Summertime means more sunscreen! You already know SPF is your-skin’s-best-friend all year round but summer is the time to be extra careful. Today I have a quick review of another sunscreen that I picked up recently – Supergoop SPF 40 Antioxidant-Infused Sunscreen Day Cream. This is my first Supergoop purchase and I like what I got!
Save your skin from the sun this summer with our best defense against UV and environmental damage packaged in travel size. SPF 40 Sunscreen Day Cream is an essential daily step to preventing premature signs of aging and form a barrier against damaging sun rays to your delicate skin.
Loaded with super antioxidant, anti-inflammatory olive oil polyphenols combined with pomegranate and green tea extracts improves skin cell renewal and elasticity. Delivers anti-aging and skin-restorative benefits with each full body application post cleansing and exfoliation. 1 oz.
As you can see in the ingredient list, the main active ingredient in this sunscreen is a physical UV filter (zinc oxide) to provide broad-spectrum UV protection. I prefer to use mineral sunscreens because they’re less irritating, more photo stable (do not cause free radicals) and protect the skin by reflecting sun’s rays instead of absorbing them. But a high physical SPF is not the only good thing about this sunscreen. Here’s a few more that I like :
- Texture is just right, not too thick nor too runny and goes on smoothly
- Nicely moisturizing formula without a heavy feeling
- No white cast
- Doesn’t irritate/sting when used around the eye area
- Contains antioxidants to defend skin against free radical damage
- Water Resistant (up to 80 minutes)
- Reasonably priced ($16)
- Suitable for all skin types and gentle enough for sensitive skin
My only caveat is that it leaves a slightly shiny finish and I like to go semi-matte when it comes to sunscreens. It’s not too bad though and I can ignore this little inconvenience considering all the other positive features. Available at Supergoop.com
