I picked up this Sally girl mini baked eyeshadow as I was just looking around while standing in the checkout line on one of my trips to Sally’s. The little baked eyeshadows looked really cute and this color Shadow Rose caught my eye. I wasn’t expecting much from this eyeshadow considering it was so cheap ($0.99) but once I used this shade, it turned out to be a little baked delight!
Shadow Rose is a lovely rosy-pink with a golden duochrome finish. Pigmentation wise, this eyeshadow is as good as any other drugstore brand (Revlon, Maybelline) and delivers a bright, beautiful color with a primer. When I first opened it, my eyeshadow brush barely picked up any color so I had to use a sponge-tip applicator and that did the trick. I have noticed this happening with my some of my other baked eyeshadows too but after a couple of times, I can now use my regular eyeshadow brushes and it applies smoothly with good color payoff. The color lasts for a good 6-7 hours with no fading or creasing but the staying power is not so good without a primer. With this shade, all you need is a layer or two to get a soft & pretty pink color or you can build up for more intensity. When applied wet, the pink color really pops out but I prefer a soft wash of pink. Here is a swatch :
The shimmer is subtle and there is no glittery fallout upon application. It might look like there is not a lot of product in the container, but the amount is good enough to last a long time. The only downside is that packaging is not so sturdy and if the eyeshadow happens to fall off (as mine did), the baked ball loosens up which obviously gets a little messy.
I am definitely going back for more shades of Sally Girl Mini Baked Eye shadows as the quality is pretty impressive for just a buck! These baked eye shadows are available in 12 different shades (all with shimmer) so you can collect them all if you want and play around with colors. These are also easy to just stick in your purse or makeup bag for travel. The package doesn’t have the name of the color on it and there is just a number (Shadow Rose – 388125). I found the name from Sally’s website.
Have you tried these mini baked shadows? You can’t go wrong with the price on these little goodies!
