Sunscreen is an essential part of my skincare routine. I wear a moisturizer with sunscreen (min SPF 15) every day to avoid unnecessary exposure to the aging UV rays. I switched to physical sunscreens about a year ago when I learned that the ingredients in physical sunblocks (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) provide superior long-lasting sun protection whereas chemical sunscreens degrade relatively quickly on the skin and can be absorbed into the bloodstream. The only downside is that physical sunscreens often have a thick, pasty formula that leaves a telltale white cast on skin.
Recently I received a sample of Marie Veronique organics Moisturizing Face Screen SPF 30 for review which is also a mineral sunscreen. This Moisturizing Face Screen has been listed among the top 10 safest, moisturizing sunscreens in the Environmental Working Group’s 2011 Sunscreen Guide . So, I was pretty excited to try this highly rated sunscreen….did it work for me? Read on…
Here’s the product description from Marie Veronique’s website :
- Protects against the complete UVA/UVB spectrum, naturally, safely and effectively
- Provides extraordinary moisturizing and healing properties with red raspberry seed oil, sea buckthorn oil, and emu oil.
- Includes antioxidants such as green tea and vitamin e for anti-aging support
- Contains non-micronized zinc oxide, a physical sun block that reflects UV rays without releasing wrinkle and cancer-causing free radicals
- Absorbs into the skin leaving a lovely matte finish
Ingredients
No harmful chemicals, nanoparticles, parabens, fillers, waxes or fragrances.
Active Ingredient: 20% non-nano zinc oxide
Camellia sinensis (green & white tea), non-nano zinc oxide, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba oil), Prunus armeniaca (apricot kernel oil), Limnanthes alba (meadowfoam seed oil), Helianthus annuus (sunflower oil), emu oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), vegetable glycerin, Elaesis guineensis (red palm oil), Rubus idaeus (red raspberry seed oil), lecithin, potassium sorbate, allantoin, Cosmocil CQ*, xanthan gum, mica, Hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn oil), Calodendrum Capense (yangu oil), Rosemarinus officinalis (rosemary oleoresin), pearl powder, Daucus carota (carrot seed) essential oil, Cistus incanus (cistus) essential oil, Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle), Helichrysum italicum (helichrysum) essential oil, iron oxides, Spirulina platensis (spirulina) (medium tint only).
My Review : Marie Veronique Organics Moisturizing Face Screen comes in a dark brown glass bottle (which helps to preserve the efficacy of the ingredients) with pump dispenser for hygienic and easy application. The formula is lightweight and spreads easily leaving a matte finish so there is absolutely no greasy or sticky feeling that is imparted by most sunscreens out there. Even though I have dry skin, I usually need a finishing powder to get rid of that ‘sunscreen shine’ but that’s not required with this sunblock.
This sunscreen comes in 3 shades (no tint, light tint, and medium tint) and I found that the non-tinted version seems to leave a very slight white cast on my fair-medium sklntone. The medium tint however turned out to be a pretty close match to my coloring and provides light-medium coverage. It evens out my skin tone nicely so that works well for me since I do not like to wear a foundation everyday. The only gripe is that I need to apply a thin layer of moisturizer underneath this product as the formula isn’t very emollient for my dry skin and feels a bit chalky when used alone. I think this should not be an issue for combination to oily skinned folks.
Marie Veronique Organics Moisturizing Face Screen not only provides reliable broad-spectrum protection from the sun’s harmful rays with an SPF of 30 but also nourish your skin. As you can see above, the ingredient list is impressive with several moisturizing agents and antioxidants that help to ward off the signs of premature aging.
Marie Veronique Organics Moisturizing Face Screen SPF30 is not cheap at $40 for a 2oz bottle but if you want a gentle, non-greasy and effective sunscreen that also provides anti-aging benefits to your skin, then this sunblock is totally worth trying!

No problem Scott. It never gives me an orangey tinge and the medium shade blends well with my skin.

Choosing organic and natural products is great than using products that contain chemical. We should be more careful in choosing products. It seems like it is great to apply in skin because aside from it is natural product I can sure that it is safe to be applied on my skin.

Hi!
Sounds like a great product! 🙂
Do you have pink or yellow undertones in your skin?
I am trying to figure out if this is something that I could wear?
Thank you! 🙂
