As many of you already know, I have been a long time fan of Paula Begoun and love her skincare line. I have tried a lot of her skincare products and always been pleased with everything I bought. That’s why I chose Paula’s Choice RESIST Clearly Remarkable Skin Lightening Gel to rid myself of the dark spots that have lately been popping up on my face. Let’s see how it fared for me…..

As the name indicates, RESIST Clearly Remarkable Skin Lightening Gel has a clear gel texture. The product is recommended to be applied once or twice daily to cleansed, toned skin. The directions suggest to apply a thin layer over areas with brown skin discolorations and that’s how I have been using it. I just apply the gel to the dark spots on my cheeks (some of these brown spots are quite noticeable, others not so much) The formula spreads easily but takes too long to be absorbed and feels like it’s just sitting on top of my skin, rather than sinking right in. Also, the smell is pretty awful (unlike any of the PC products I’ve ever used). It does soak in eventually after a few minutes and then I follow with up with my night time moisturizer.
As with all lightening products, you’re advised to wear an SPF product in conjunction (essential to prevent discolorations from recurring) and I make sure to do that everyday.
I began using this product about 4 months ago and have applied it every night since then. According to them, results should be visible within 3 months of daily use. I would say the lightening gel has faded the most prominent brown spot on my right cheekbone by about 50%. I think I might have got better (and faster) results if I used the gel twice daily. I do expect the product to make those pesky brown spots go away competely with continued use, hopefully within the next two or three months. Since I have been using it only as a spot treatment, there is still a lot of product left in the tube.
Overall, I am pleased with the Paula’s Choice RESIST Clearly Remarkable Skin Lightening Gel as it has worked well to improve the appearance of my brown spots and a few light post-acne marks. The price is also reasonable at $19.95 for a 2oz tube. However, the product definitely needs a few improvements especially the bad smell which is hard to get used to and also it would be a lot better if the gel formula absorbed much faster.
