Spring is finally here! And springtime means warmer weather and more outdoor activities – which means greater sun exposure. Just in time for spring and summer fun, one of our favorite budget friendly skincare line CeraVe has introduced a new Sun Care range that includes seven new products for the face and body with various applications offering both broad spectrum SPF 30 and SPF 50 protection.

Suitable for all skin types, the products in the new CeraVe Sun Care line are lightweight, oil-free, fragrance-free and water resistant for up to 80 minutes. Five of these new formulations feature Invisible Zinc technology that uses a naturally sourced micro-fine zinc oxide (my favorite sunscreen ingredient!) to deliver a dry, clear finish on the skin. Another plus point is that these CeraVe suncreens have been infused with an impressive mix of nourishing skincare ingredients like ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin and help repair and restore the protective skin barrier.
I have been testing out four of these new products. Let’s start with CeraVe Sunscreen SPF 50 for Face ($14.99 for 2.5 oz) – This purely physical sunscreen has a lot going for it, including ample broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays from zinc oxide (4.7%) and titanium dioxide (4.9%), oil-free lightweight formula that abosrbs quickly, moisturizes nicely without a greasy feel and is water-resistant. The only thing holding it back from being my new favorite drugstore sunscreen is the noticeable white cast it leaves on my skin. It’s still worth consideration for its overall formula and affordability, but doesn’t quite qualify as the best option. CeraVe sunscreen for face is also available in SPF 30.
Next up is the CeraVe SPF 50 Sunscreen for Body ($16.99 for 3.5 oz) – Just like the facial lotion, it packs a punch against the sun’s damaging rays with physical UV blockers zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. The lightweight, non-greasy formula spreads and absorbs easily, dries clear and is also water resistant for up to 80 minutes. It is suitable for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin. This one is a winner all around! CeraVe sunscreen for body is also available in SPF 30.
CeraVe Wet Skin Spray SPF 50 (($16.99) can be applied on wet or dry skin. It has a chemical sunscreen formula that spreads easily and forms a barrier on skin that visibly repels water and retains maximum sun protection (water resistant for up to 80 minutes). I will be sure to carry it along on my next trip to the beach!
CeraVe SPF 50 Sunscreen Stick ($9.99) is a facial sunscreen stick that rubs on easily with a targeted retractable applicator. Like other products in the line, it offers high, broad spectrum SPF with a physical sunscreen formula (6% titanium dioxide and 4.7 % zinx oxide) and is water resistant (for up to 40 minutes). This compact swivel up stick is the perfect size to tuck in your purse or pocket for on the go sun protection. The gentle formula is also great for use on children who tend to dislike sunscreen applied to their faces.
The CeraVe Sun Care Line is available in Sun Belt states now and will be available at major drug and mass retailers nationwide in April 2013.
Disclosure: This review features a sample product sent for consideration by PR and reflects my honest opinion as always!

I like the high SPFs. I hope this is going to be available in Canada someday.
