It’s no secret that retinol is a skincare miracle worker. Hailed as the savior for those suffering from skin woes like fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, uneven skin tone, acne and even large pores, retinol is one of the few ingredients out there that is proven to prevent premature aging. However, it does have a bad reputation for being too harsh on skin.
Well, recently I discovered a little gem that has been designed to deliver clinically meaningful levels of retinol to the skin without causing signs of irritation such as redness or flaking.
Dr Denese FirmaTone Rx RetinolMax Firming Serum is a high potency retinol serum that targets lack of firmness and defined lines and wrinkles while helping to diminish the appearance of crow’s feet, improve skin texture, brighten and even out skin tone and reduce the look of pores.
Usage : Apply at night and follow with your favorite night cream if needed. FirmaTone Rx RetinolMax Serum is so concentrated that it is recommended to be used only every other day.
Ingredients : Cyclomethicone, Dimethiconol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Soybean (Glycine Soja)Extract, Retinol, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Lecithin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Wheat Protein Extract, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Sorbitol Laurate, Triestearin, Acetylated Glycol Stearate, Phenoxyethanol.
Made without parabens or dyes. No animal testing.
Dr Denese FirmaTone Rx RetinolMax Firming Serum comes packaged in an opaque, airtight pump bottle which is not only convenient to use but also keeps the retinol stable during use.
I’ve been using this serum every other night for three weeks now and won’t be quitting anytime soon! The fragrance-free, silicone-based formula has a lightweight, silky texture that abosrbs super quickly leaving my skin smooth and slightly moisturized. I just need a few drops to cover my face. As the directions suggest, I use a moisturizer afterwards to keep my dry skin happy.
I did not experience any irritation or peeling with this serum (but then my skin is already acclimated to retinol-based skincare products) So if you are fairly new to retinol, this serum may cause some flaking or redness when you first begin using it.
Dr. Denese suggests you start using this serum every other night due to the amount of retinol. And make sure to use it only at night – sun doesn’t play nice with retinol. And don’t forget to slather on a high SPF during the day – retinol use makes skin more sensitive to the UV rays.
Overall, I am really pleased with Dr Denese FirmaTone Rx RetinolMax Firming Serum and have no hesitation in recommending it to those looking for a high potency yet gentle retinol formula. At $88 for 1 oz, this serum is on the expensive side but totally worth it! Available at Amazon.com

Interesting! I’ve been wanting to try retinol in some form for a while now, but haven’t really found anything suitable. This could be it though, so thanks for the review! 🙂

J – This is undoubtedly a great retinol serum! However, if you are totally new to retinol and decide to try this one out, be sure to start with only twice or thrice a week and moisturize well afterwards.
