SPF should be your BFF, especially as we get into the warmer months. I think lips are often the most neglected area when it comes to sun protection. Being a skincare nut, I am very diligent about slathering on a moisturizer with sunscreen every morning on my face (no matter the season) but many a times, I forget to reach for a lippie with SPF before heading out. I really need to make it a habit so there’s no miss! The good news is I have found a great new lippie that adds just the right amount of color and shine while simultaneously protecting with broad spectrum SPF15 UVA/UVB protection! Enter the Hydrating Lip Tint SPF 15 from Youngblood cosmetics.
Now that sunny days are here to stay, it’s time to amp up our daily SPF protection, ladies!Youngblood Hydrating Lip Tint SPF 15 is a nourishing, luxurious lip treatment that smooths, hydrates, and protects while imparting a glossy, light color finish. With a combination of jojoba, argan, sweet almond, sunflower and avocado oils, the Hydrating Lip Tint SPF 15 helps to heal dryness and soften roughness while a built-in SPF 15 helps keep lips protected from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Here’s the full ingredient list:
Active Ingredients: Octinoxate (Ethylhexyl Methoxcinnamate) 7.5%, Octisalate (Ethylhexyl Salicylate) 3.5%, Avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane) 3.0%. Other ingredients: Beeswax, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Ozokerite, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Olive Oil, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Lipids, Phytosterols, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Tribehenin, Ceramide 2, PEG-10 Rapeseed Sterol, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Persea Gratissima (Avacado) Oil, Limnanthes Alba (meadowfaom) Seed Oil, Pruus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Macadamia Intergrifolia Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruite Extract, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Tocopherol, Monoammonium Glycyrrhizinate (Flavor), Tocopheryl Acetate.
In terms of formula, these lip tints have a lightweight creamy texture that glides on super smoothly and feels so silky & hydrating, adding a healthy dose of moisture to my dry lips instantly. They have a sweet lemon verbena scent/flavor that I really like! The formula is quite nourishing but thankfully isn’t too squishy-soft (unlike one of my another favorite lip balms) so I can easily tuck it in my purse or beach bag without worrying about it getting melted in the summer heat. Also, once you snap the tube closed, it stays closed…the cap won’t fall off!
The Hydrating LipTint SPF 15 is available in three shades: Peony (peach), Rose (reddish pink), and Poppy (peachy pink). I have Rose and Poppy and also a clear shade (which is the original Hydrating Lip Crème SPF 15). I was pleasantly surprised to find that the tinted formula is quite pigmented and delivers a pretty good color payoff…almost like a sheer hydrating lipstick!
Both the shades I have, Rose and Poppy are very flattering and add a soft, pretty pop of color with a glossy shine. These lip tints can also be layered with a lipliner or lipstick but the colors are pretty opaque enough to wear on their own. My only quibble with this lip tint is that it offers a low SPF protection. I prefer at least SPF 30, especially for summer months, so I don’t have to reapply often throughout the day.
