There is no denying the fact that drugstore brands have really stepped up their game when it comes to skincare products, and that’s great news for us beauty aficionados! These new drugstore skincare products are solid proof!
One of the products featured in this latest lineup is Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 20 with Neutral tint, and being a SPF fanatic hoarder, I had to get my hands on it! To my pleasant surprise, it turned out to be the best drugstore tinted moisturizer with SPF I’ve tried so far…truly a drugstore delight!
Specially designed for redness-prone sensitive skin, Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 20 has a lightweight neutral tinted formula that soothes, protects and moisturizes while neutralizing the appearance of redness due to dry skin.
To be honest, I have some high standards for a face moisturizer with SPF: it has to be over SPF 15 with mineral based sunscreen actives but doesn’t leave a greasy white film on the skin, it should be lightweight yet moisturizing, it can’t actually smell like sunscreen (I want to use it daily, after all), it’s made without iffy chemicals and it can’t break me out (I’ve acne-prone skin)
Yes, it’s a tall order, and in my quest for the ideal mineral sunscreen for face I’ve tried way too many! Some were fabulous, but cost too much for too little product; others started the day off well, but felt too greasy in a few hours; still more got my hopes up, only to leave me with a pimple or two by the weekend.
However, Cetaphil Redness Relieving Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 has exceeded my expectations, and after about two weeks of using it everyday, it has my seal of approval! The fragrance-free formula is lightweight and absorbs quickly without any greasy, oily feeling. It provides just the right dose of moisture that hydrates my dry skin without a heavy mask-like feel. It seems to add a little bit of radiance to my skin as well…no shimmer but just a subtle glow that I love!
Thanks to its neutral tint, Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 20 doesn’t leave any chalky white cast, and in fact provides sheer to light coverage while neutralizing any redness on my face…I was expecting this to be very sheer but it actually provides pretty decent coverage (better than some sheer BB creams I’ve tried!) I can leave the house wearing this plus a little concealer…just the perfect coverage for every day when I don’t want to wear a foundation! And if I do, I can easily layer foundation on top of this and don’t even need a primer. It would be a great addition to my list of Best sunscreens to wear under makeup.
That said, its neutral tint may not work for all skin tones, and may be too light for medium-dark or deep skin tones. On my light-medium skin tone, it blends easily and looks natural. I think it should work well for fair to light skin tones too but not sure for those with very pale skin. So, the only downside is that the formula is not sheer enough to work for all skin tones.
FYI – it contains 10% titanium dioxide and 7.8 % zinc oxide. Wish it had more zinc for a higher SPF but then again that might have thrown this wonderful formulation off!
Overall, I think Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 20 ($17.49 for 1.7 oz) is a fantastic little beauty bargain! Not only does this neutral tinted moisturizer tone down redness and provides very nice coverage but the gentle, 100% mineral SPF formula also hydrates and protects dry & irritated, sensitive skin. This one is a keeper! Pick it up from Target or Amazon.com
