CeraVe is a skincare brand that’s well-known for their gentle, sensitive skin friendly products. In fact, their products come highly recommended by my dermatologist and I have been a big fan of CeraVe for several years now.
One of my long-time favorites is their Renewing SA Cream which was one of the very first CeraVe products I tried…it’s such a savior for dry skin! And CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 is another of my tried and trusted drugstore skincare picks!
CeraVe recently introduced two new products that I have been trying out for the past few weeks and I am happy to report that they are just as great as my other favorites from the brand!
CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream SPF 30 ($23.99)
You guys already know I am a sunscreen fanatic! Being a SPF hoarder (and budget beauty babe), I don’t like to drop a ton of cash on daily use sunscreens. But that doesn’t mean I am not picky!
In fact, I have some fairly high standards for facial spf formulas : it has to be over SPF 20 with mineral based sunscreen actives but doesn’t leave a greasy white film on the skin, it should be lightweight yet moisturizing enough for my dry skin, doesn’t have a strong fragrance, it’s gentle (made without harsh chemicals) and it shouldn’t cause any breakouts (I have acne-prone skin).
CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream SPF 30 fits the bill perfectly! Plus, it packs an anti-aging punch with non-irritating encapsulated retinol…score! It’s formulated with 3 essential ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid for all day hydration. The formula is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and contains 10.5 % zinc oxide and Octinoxate 7.5% as active ingredients for sun protection.
CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream SPF 30 comes in a 1.7 oz bottle with a pump. It has a lightweight feel and absorbs quickly without any shine or greasiness (that most mineral facial sunscreens usually have). You will forget you applied it, it’s so light! Also, there’s no cloying sunblock fragrance. It does leave a very slight white cast at first, but that fades in a few seconds after application and wouldn’t be noticeable at all under makeup.
This day cream provides just the right dose of moisture that hydrates my dry skin without a heavy mask-like feel. And I have no problem applying foundation over it – just give it a minute to sink in and it layers well under makeup! And last but not the least, I like the added benefit of stabilized and gentle retinol.
If you have been looking for an anti-aging daytime moisturizer with SPF that wears easily under makeup, CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream SPF30 might be your best bet!
CeraVe Ceramide Boost Skin Renewing Gel Oil ($23.99)
Oil in gel form? That’s innovative indeed! This facial oil gel with Ceraplex, a unique 5 ceramides & sunflower blend helps smooth, soften and improve skin radiance. Its also fragrance-free to avoid any irritation issues for sensitive skin and won’t clog pores.
Pumped out of the bottle, it has a gel-like texture but once massaged onto skin, it melts into a lightweight oil that absorbs easily. What I really love about this ceramide-rich formula is that there’s no dripping or greasy mess (which is the reason I try to avoid facial oils that come in bottles with dropper). But with this oil gel, there’s no such issue!
CeraVe Ceramide Boost Skin Renewing Gel Oil is very hydrating and smoothing without being heavy. But you need to know that a little goes a long way with this one. If you use it a bit generously (like I did the first time), it tends to leave a greasy/shiny film on your skin. The directions suggest to apply in small dots where needed around the face and gently smooth until absorbed. I use it in my nightly skincare routine, usually before applying (or combined with) my face moisturizer.
Bottom line
CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream SPF 30 and Ceramide Boost Skin Renewing Gel Oil have been a welcome addition to my skincare routine…they are a keeper for sure! I think both of these will be suitable for almost all skin types, including sensitive skin. At $23.99 each, they might seem a little bit expensive for drugstore skincare but the quality is definitely worth the price tag!
These new CeraVe products are available now at Ulta, Target and Amazon.com.
