L’Oreal Brilliant Signature Shiny Lip Stains are a new line of lightweight, high-shine lip colors that promise intense and long-lasting pigment with a bare-lip sensation.
These are the glossy, shiny version of L’Oréal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stains that are one of my favorite matte liquid lipsticks…such a great formula! So, not surprisingly, I had high expectations from these new lippies. Do they live up to the hype though?

Description
The Brilliant Signature Shiny Lip Stain is L’Oreal’s first lip stain with a high-shine finish and a lightweight feel. Brilliant Signature combines the best of the best: the glossy, high-shine finish of a lip gloss, the lasting wear of a lip stain, and the bold color impact of a liquid lipstick, all without feeling heavy or sticky on the lips.
High-shine polymers combine with intense color pigments that provides the shiniest, and boldest color impact. Featuring a precision applicator; color doesn’t bleed, feather, run, or smear.
L’Oreal Brilliant Signature Shiny Lip Stains come in 12 shiny shades ranging from pretty pinks and perfect nudes to bold berries and statement red. I tried out 4 colors – 311 Be Brilliant, 315 Be Courageous, 316 Be Cheerful and 317 Be Fiery.
Texture-wise, this is like a lightweight gloss with a moisturizing feel. It goes on smoothly and the application is easy, thanks to its doe-foot applicator with a pointed tip. The formula doesn’t feel sticky, heavy or tacky on the lips and there’s no noticeable scent (which I really like!)
All I need is just two coats to get rich and vibrant color with a gorgeous glossy finish. If I want to build up the color even more, layering is easy too. While I wouldn’t call the color payoff to be really bold as the brand claims, it is excellent for sure!
My favorite is 316 (Be Cheerful), a beautiful shimmery peachy-pink (#2 in swatches below) that’s just my kind of shade. Honestly though, all the other 3 shades are also right up my alley and I am really loving them all. Here are the swatches of the 4 shades I tried…all packed with pigment!

Out of these, 311 Be Brilliant (a bright tomato red with warm undertones, no shimmer) is probably the most opaque coverage-wise. 315 Be Courageous is a peachy nude w/shimmer and 317 Be Fiery is a shimmery nude with pink undertones that I think is universally flattering…it would look pretty on every skin tone!
True to its claims, L’Oreal Brilliant Signature Shiny Lip Stains also deliver in the longevity department and does not smudge or feather. It holds up really well for several hours and stains your lips for long-lasting color. What I am really impressed with is that even the shine stays on (quite long) with the color.
The formula isn’t completely transfer-proof though and tends to leave slight lipstick marks on coffee cups. However, the color doesn’t come off much on my face mask….I wore it the other day to Fred Meyer for grocery and when I took my mask off, it was still very much there!
As expected, it doesn’t last through a greasy lunch. For me, the best part about this lip stain is that the formula doesn’t leave my lips feeling dry once it’s worn off (especially now that it’s winter!) In fact, it feels quite moisturizing for the first few hours.

Bottom Line
From their lightweight and moisturizing texture to the pigment-packed glossy finish formula (not sticky) that wears well, I am loving everything about the new L’Oreal Brilliant Signature Shiny Lip Stains!
They really are a great combination of a color-rich lip gloss and lip stain (minus the dryness!) and the result is a glossy lipstick that’s pure pleasure to wear…all under $10! Well done, L’Oreal!
