Winter can be a rough time for your skin with the freezing temperatures outside and drying heat indoors. The result is dull and dry skin which takes away the natural glow from your face. Last week, I received a couple of emails asking for a solution to treat dry, flaky skin. Since this is a very common problem, I thought of sharing my two cents in this post for other readers who might want to know the solutions. One tip from a celebrity that I once read in a fashion magazine was “soak up your face in olive oil once in a while”. I wasn’t too sure of doing that at first but it does work like magic! I just massage a little bit of olive oil all over my face and leave it for half an hour and…. voila! Soft, supple skin with no signs of dryness.
I have normal to dry skin and in winters I usually get some dry, flaky patches on my cheeks and around my mouth. Since exfoliation is the most effective way to get rid of dry skin, I use an exfoliating product (twice a week) like Paula’s choice Exfoliating 8%AHA gel which keeps my complexion smooth and soft.
You can also find a DIY exfoliant here. Another tip is to switch to a hydrating cleanser in winters like Cerave hydrating cleanser and use cream-based foundations and makeup.
So, how do you take care of dry skin in winters? I would love to hear your thoughts and product suggestions……do tell!
