Today I am reviewing the new Avon Glimmersticks Liqui-Glide Eye Liner that has recently been introduced by Avon. I am not a big fan of Avon but some of their products are really good and one of my favorites is their Foot Works Overnight Renewing Foot Cream. Although these new eyeliners do not have a lot of shades to offer but the Black plum shade caught my eye and I decided to give these a shot!
Product description (from Avon’s website)
A dramatic line…without the drama! The intense look of a liquid liner with the ease and precision of a pencil. Long-wearing. Smudge-resistant. Retractable, self-sharpening. .005 oz. net wt. $7.00
I purchased two shades – Black plum which is a medium purple violet and brown which is a medium brown. Both the shades are matte with no shimmer or sparkle.
My review :
These eyeliners glide smoothly onto lids without any tugging or pulling. It takes only one gentle swipe to get the color on and that makes it really easy to get a thin line. The liner feels wet while applying but dries and sets instantly. Actually, I like these better than the regular Avon Glimmersticks because they are true to color and the soft tip deposits color smoothly. Here are swatches :
The staying power is really good and the color does not fade or smudge on my eyes and lasted all day until I took these off. These are not waterproof so I did not apply on my lower lash line or waterline but on my upper eyelids, they did not budge at all. (Anyways, I just use a kohl pencil or kajal which is meant for use on waterline). I am not a fan of eyeliners that need to be sharpened so I like that these are retractable. Also, the colors are easy to remove and come off easily with a regular make up remover.
I do not find these eyeliners as intense as liquid eyeliner so if you want a bolder look or high intensity pigmentation, these are probably not for you. However, if you find a liquid eyeliner too dramatic, these are a good option to get a relatively softer look (I prefer that too) along with the ease of application of a pencil.
The color selection is limited and there are just 4 shades to choose from. At regular price ($7), these liners are a bit pricey for the amount of product you get and in fact they are smaller in size than the standard drugstore eyeliners. I got these on sale for $4.99 a piece and I think these are worth a try at the sale price!

hi, great post. I stumbled upon it while looking for more info on these sticks. I’m a user and extremely happy with them, I bought all shades. I’m just confused on the “sharpening” aspect. Avon is not specific but I think the inside of the cap is the sharpener if you leave some of the tip out, shut it, and rotate the cap. It seems to make it pointy but of course the shavings stay inside (?). Weird. If you have any info on this please let me know. I got them all for the sale price, too!

Rosemary -Thanks for your comment! I am not sure about the sharpener thing and haven’t noticed the liner becoming pointy…..I am sure Avon would have mentioned it on their website if they included a sharpener.

I wish Avon could put the instructions on the package!
