I had been on the lookout for a good natural mascara that gives me luscious lashes and doesn’t bother my eyes like a lot of chemical-laden formulas do. Gabriel Cosmetics lipsticks are one of my favorite lipsticks ever (you can see my review here) so I already had high expectations when I picked up the Gabriel Color mascara (black) and it surely doesn’t disappoint!
Description: Gentle and non-irritating formula with vitamin B-5 to lengthen and thicken lashes without clumping or smudging. Specially designed brush expertly defines, separates and creates maximum volume. Natural plant waxes and vitamins have been added for superior conditioning and protection for full healthy lashes.
Ingredients: Aqua (infusion of Aloe Vera juice), Cellulose Gum, Sorbitol, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lecithin, Panthenol, Crithmum Maritimum (Sea Fennel) Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright) Extract, Xanthan Gum, Iron Oxides, Hectorite, Titanium Dioxide, Potassium Sorbate.
The creamy formula goes on smoothly and can be layered easily (I usually apply 2-3 coats) without clumping. With this mascara, my lashes feel light and soft without any stiffness and it never irritates my sensitive eyes after a long day of wear. There is no weird smell either which is always a plus in my book! The long and tapered applicator brush is really good and separates, defines, and lengthens lashes nicely but it doesn’t really add a lot of volume. I do not curl my lashes so can’t really comment if it can hold a curl or not.
As for the lasting power, this mascara doesn’t budge all day and stays put without flaking, clumping or smudging. Although not waterproof, it holds up really well even on hot summer days and surprisingly did not smear even when my eyes teared up one day! I have used it on my bottom lashes as well and have had no issues with running or flaking. It comes off easily with my gentle make-up remover and doesn’t need poking around with Q-tips to remove the black residue. For an all-natural brand, the packaging is pretty chic as it comes in a black tube with gold lettering.
Overall, Gabriel mascara is absolutely fantastic with it’s non-irritating, smudge-proof and well-pigmented formula and is totally worth the price($16). If you’re looking for dramatic lashes, this one is probably not for you as it isn’t super lengthening or volumizing but if you want an all-natural mascara that looks like your-lashes-but-better, try this one!
You can find Gabriel Color mascara at your local Whole Foods and it’s also available online at Gabriel cosmetics. Available in dark brown and black.
