Hello my lovely readers, today I am reviewing NYX round lipstick in the shade Rose Bud. I am really fond of NYX products (especially the eyeshadow singles) but this was my first lipstick purchase from NYX. There is so much hype regarding NYX Round Lipsticks as to how creamy and pigmented they are with an affordable price tag ($4).

NYX Round Lipstick in “Rosebud” is a shimmery coral pink with a satiny finish. There are already a couple of similar shades in my collection but as I tend to gravitate towards peachy-pinks, I couldn’t resist myself from trying out this lippie.
While I didn’t find the texture of NYX round lipstick to be “velvety”, it’s fairly soft and goes on smoothly. The shade Rose bud gives sheer coverage and takes at least a couple of coats to get an opaque finish. The formula is moisturizing overall but feels a little drying after about half an hour of wear and that’s why I like to top it off with a moisturizing lipgloss. If applied over a lip balm, this lip color sheers out quite a bit and appears as a shimmery nude with a hint of pink. As for the staying power, it lasts about 1-2 hours for me and doesn’t stay put through eating and drinking. This lipstick has a strong perfumey fragrance that lingers around for some time after application. The packaging is nice and I like the color showing through the base of the lipstick which makes it easier to choose the color among other options.
Overall, I am a bit disappointed with this lipstick since the formula is heavily scented and leaves my lips craving for more moisture. The color also wears off easily and needs to be reapplied every couple of hours which doesn’t work out well for me. That said, I am still tempted to pick up a few more shades of NYX round lipsticks as the color selection is fabulous with a whopping 144 shades and the price is unbeatable!

I’m a sucker for moisturizing lipsticks, but I might give this a try though. Did you put lip balm first before the lipstick?
Reena -Yeah…I prefer moisturizing formulas too. The shade is lovely and I tried applying it over lip balm but the color sheers out quite a bit.
