When it comes to make-up, Christmas parties give you the perfect excuse to try something bold. Every woman likes to feel glamorous and the festive party season offers a great opportunity to channel your inner film star. You can get the perfect party look by making a statement with your eyes and lips.
Glamorous lips
Bold, red lips add instant glamour to any look. Plus, it’s a great Christmas color! Choosing red will no doubt draw attention so it’s vital you get it right – prepare your lips, get the right shade and make it work for you. Exfoliate, moisturise and prime your lips to create a smooth surface to work with. You don’t want the color to bleed so you also need to ensure that you find a liner that matches your chosen lip color.
When it comes to choosing the right color, there’s a general consensus amongst make-up artists that cool reds with blue tones will suit pale skin while warmer, orange reds work better for people with a darker complexion. If you can’t work out which is best for you, ask a friend or in-store make-up assistant for advice. As always it’s important to remember if you’re making a statement with your lips, try to tone down the rest of your make-up and go for just a little blusher to give a rosy-cheeked complexion.
Statement eyes
If you’d prefer to make a statement with your eyes, fake eyelashes are a must and perfect for making your eyes stand out across a crowded room. Adding some sparkle also creates the perfect look for Christmas parties and will definitely make you the belle of the ball. Shimmery eyeshadows are bold, bright and perfect for the festive holiday season. You’ll be able to find glittery eye dusts and shadows in just about every color; it’s just up to you how daring you want to be!
Smoky eyes are still big this season but can be livened up by adding a splash of color. Rather than sticking to the usual blacks and charcoal greys, you can bring some color to your smoky eyes, with dark greens, blues and purples.
Consider the whole look
As with any makeup, you need to consider what suits you best. It’s no good just following a trend, consider your eye color, skin tone, even what you’ll be wearing – you don’t want to risk looking like a clown! Make-up assistants could be of great help to work out what suits you. If you’re not used to wearing bold make-up, it might also be a good idea to have a trial run before the big occasion. Finally, you might want to invest in some eye highlighter to reduce dark circles and wake up tired eyes, the evidence of all your late nights!
