After going through the promising description and ingredient list ( and here for the conditioner) of these Apivita haircare products, I was actually quite excited about trying this duo but sadly they didn’t live up to my expectations. I used the Apivita Propoline Shine and Revitalizing shampoo & conditioner for two weeks and found myself a bit disappointed especially with the shampoo.
To begin with, the shampoo has a thick consistency which I like but there is not much foaming action despite the fact that the shampoo is not sulfate-free. It contains sodium laureth sulfate, which btw is the better sulfate, being less drying and irritating than its harsher cousin sodium lauryl sulfate. Now don’t get me wrong here, I don’t really care a lot for suds, being a long time sulfate-free (especially WEN cleansing conditioner) fan, but this shampoo is kind of difficult to work through/coat my hair well even compared to most of the SLS-free shampoos I’ve tried so far, including Wen. So, I probably end up using more than the required amount for my hair and as a result it leaves my hair squeaky clean but feeling stripped and dull.
As for the conditioner, I like it as the creamy formula does a good job of adding moisture back to my hair after shampooing. It’s not overly thick, spreads and soaks up easily leaving my hair soft and bouncy after rinsing. The fresh, citrusy scent is quite pleasant.
Final Verdict Apivita Propoline Shine and Revitalizing shampoo ($20) seems to have all the attributes of a quality shampoo but it did not work well for my hair. The conditioner ($22) however is pretty good and just exactly what you’d want from a hydrating formulation. Available at Apivita.com
