Boots No7 Poppy King Rain Drops Lip Crayons are a new addition to Poppy’s exisiting Boots No 7 range of lipsticks & lip glosses. The Rain Drops collection has been inspired by a classic 1970s ad for No7 Rain Gels Lip Gloss and consists of 5 shades of chubby lip crayons.
Product Description
No7 Poppy King Lip Crayons are here to brighten your mood and give you a perfect smile. New No7 Poppy King Lip Crayons. 5 bright ‘pops’ of moisture rich color in an easy to apply crayon format. Poppy King Lip Crayons give a smooth, sheen of moisture-rich color. The new easy-to-use crayon format allows for instant definition of lips, in 5 bright colors. Lips are filled with color with a sheer finish. You can also apply to the apples of your cheek for an allover splash of color. 2.8-gram lip pencil.
As you can see from the pics, the lip crayons come with a built-in sharpener in the lid which is nice but I prefer the twist-up lip pencils that I find way more convenient to use (and there’s less wastage too). The creamy formula glides easily on the lips and feels quite moisturizing but has a bit of stickiness. The pigmentation is pretty good and it’s easy to build up from a sheer tint to a nice pop of color with medium coverage.
As for the staying power, I usually get about 2 hours of wear out of these (without much eating or drinking). That said, the longevity is definitely better than the similar chubby lip pencils in my stash like Tarte’s lipsurgence. Another difference between the two is that the Boots lip crayons do not have any scent or flavor while the Tarte ones have a minty taste.
The two shades I tried are Dancing (raspberry pink) and Playing (coral-ish red with a bit of shimmer) Both of them are pretty, easy-to-wear colors with a slight glossy finish and would look great on most skin tones. When I first opened them, the two crayons appeared a bit similar in color but the difference is quite apparent in swatches. Out of the two, my favorite is Playing – it doesn’t come out as a bold red on lips when I use just a couple of swipes so I can wear it just about anytime.
Bottom Line
Priced at $9.99 each, Boots No7 Poppy King Rain Drops Lip Crayons are absolutely worth trying out if you are a fan of chubby lip pencil type products. Not only do they have a lovely color payoff but the moisturizing formula won’t leave your lips dried out.
