As a beauty blogger, I often get asked for skincare product recommendations from my friends and readers. And these queries include product suggestions not only for themselves but also for the kids. So for all my mommy friends, I thought of doing a quick roundup of some of my favorite kid’s bath, body and skincare products. All of these products are natural and totally safe and gentle enough to be used on the sensitive skin of the little ones.
Noodle & Boo Play-Day Sunscreen SPF-50 ($18) – I discovered this luxury baby skincare line only a few weeks ago but it’s quickly becoming one of my go-to favorites! Fortified with aloe and calendula, this sunscreen has a moisturizing but non-greasy formula that rubs in easily and is also water resistant (up to 40 min). It provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection and is free of any harsh chemicals or fragrances. Some of the other Noodle & Boo products that I really like are the Super Soft Lotion and the Ultimate Cleansing Cloths. Available at Nordstrom.
Yes to Baby Carrots 100% Natural Shampoo & Body Wash ($7.99) – I’ve tried lots of natural kids shampoos for my daughter and by far my top pick is this 2-in-1 one shampoo/body wash from Yes to carrots…..we have been using it for more than three years now! Free of parabens and SLS (sulfates), it has a gentle foaming formula that’s perfect for dry, sensitive skin like my daughter’s. Plus, it’s tear-free to keep your little one happy! I am also a fan of Yes to Baby Carrots Face + Nose Wipes … quite handy to safely and effectively get the ‘gunk’ off your little ones’ face, nose, hands – anywhere! Available at Whole Foods and Amazon.com
Shea moisture Raw Shea Chamomile & Argan Oil Baby Healing lotion ($9.99) – With a nutrient-rich blend of organic shea butter, cocoa butter, argan oil and aloe vera, this gentle, all-natural moisturizing lotion soothes, softens and nourishes baby’s and delicate skin. What I love best about this lotion is that it’s rich and super moisturizing but doesn’t leave skin greasy! It has a delicate, sweet fragrance that’s quite nice. No parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrances or colors. Available at Target stores and Amazon.com
Episencial Protective Face Balm ($5.99) – Loaded with healthy organics cocoa butter, aloe, licorice extract, jojoba and avocado oils, this ultra hydrating all-natural facial balm does a great job of soothing and hydrating chapped skin and lips. Also protects from everyday elements with zinc derived SPF 6 and shea butter. It’s free from the bad stuff like parabens and petroleum. I have also tried and love Episencial Soothing Cream that is an excellent pick for cradle cap and eczema-prone skin. Available at Whole Foods.
Beautiful Curls Shea butter Curl Nurturing Leave-in Detangler ($11.99) – This leave-in conditioner works really well on my daughter’s hair to remove tangles and leave her hair smooth, soft and easy to manage. A little goes a long way! And like all the above, it’s a completely natural formula with only good-for-you ingredients like certified fair trade shea butter, virgin coconut oil, calendula extract and more! Available at Whole Foods and Amazon.com
And here’s another product that is a must-have in our house – Knot Genie Hair Detangling Brush Created for moms like me who have endured the foot stomping and screaming matches that come with brushing their child’s hair. With the Knot Genie, even the curliest, most knotted up hair practically slips through the unique bristles gently and painlessly. (you’ll be thankful I told you about this one!)
