If you could relive any moment…could you make life perfect? What if every moment in life came with a second chance? This is the premise of the new movie About Time – a film from Richard Curtis, the creator of Love Actually, Notting Hill, and Four Weddings and a Funeral. About Time tells the story of a young man whose gift allows him to go back and relive any moment of his life. But instead of making every moment perfect, he learns that life and love are most extraordinary when you embrace all of their imperfections.
At the age of 21, Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) discovers he can travel in time…
The night after another unsatisfactory New Year party, Tim’s father (Bill Nighy) tells his son that the men in his family have always had the ability to travel through time. Tim can’t change history, but he can change what happens and has happened in his own life—so he decides to make his world a better place…by getting a girlfriend. Sadly, that turns out not to be as easy as you might think…..
I love watching romantic comedies and this one looks just the kind that I think I would really enjoy! Our lives are full of moments we’d like to live again…some days you want to hold on to forever and then there are those awkward moments that you wish you had a redo button for (I’ve got plenty of those too!) But it is in these unforgettable moments, the perfect and not-so-perfect times with those you love, that you realize how beautiful life is!
It made me think of all those moments in my life that I wish I could revisit. I come from a childhood packed with tons of sweet memories surrounded by family and friends that understood what love is. I had a wonderful childhood not because of the things we had but because we had each other. It’s so true that family are friends for life!
Just like Tim and his father in the movie, I am especially close to my mother. I have always felt that she truly understands me without being judgemental so I could actually talk to her about anything……I mean anything, really (even during my teen years!). Like a true friend, she has always been my strength during all the ups and downs of my life. I was so thankful to have her by my side when I gave birth to my daughter and still remember the very first time she held my baby in her arms….. it was a truly heartwarming and precious moment that I can never forget!
With that and a hundred other special moments in my heart, I’ll go watch the movie to celebrate the little imperfections life presents everyday. The moments that were ‘just perfect’ and that make living the other days, worthwhile.
ABOUT TIME releases in theaters November 8, 2013…can’t wait to see it!
This post was sponsored by Universal Pictures through their partnership with POPSUGAR. While I was compensated to write a post about About Time, all opinions are my own.
I love anything with Rachel McAdams in it (with the exception of Morning Glory) so I’m definitely gonna go see this!!
I envy you having such a wonderful relationship with your mother. It must be great. The movie sounds like it would probably make me cry, so it’s one I’d skip, but I can understand why you’d love it.
My childhood was a sweet time, as well. How wonderful to have such a close relationship with your mother. 🙂
