Jan Marini Skin Research, Inc has introduced a new highly concentrated, non-hydroquinone brightening solution to their anti-aging arsenal – Marini Luminate Face Lotion. The dual-purpose formula not only helps reduce the appearance of discoloration and dark spots but also includes highly concentrated all-trans retinol to accelerate benefits while simultaneously targeting the appearance of uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles.
This product has been developed as a result of growing concerns over the prolonged use of hydroquinone in skincare products. With an impressive array of effective ingredients, Marini Luminate Face Lotion packs a powerful punch against hyperpigmentation, sun damage and wrinkles all at the same time!
Key Ingredients and Benefits:
Alpha-Arbutin, Nonapeptide-1, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Extract and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (licorice extract): reduce dark spots by inhibiting hormones that trigger melanin production
Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane: is a non-staining form of turmeric that reduces inflammation, acne and scarring
Hexylresorcinol: reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increases protection against UVB and UVA rays, and improves the skin’s barrier against pollution and sun exposure
Here’s the full ingredient list:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Glyceryl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Propanediol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, PEG-100 Stearate, Alpha-Arbutin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Epigallocatechin Gallate, Hexylresorcinol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, BetaAilgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane, Nonapeptide-1, Retinol, Bisabolol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, lecithin, Sorbitan Stearate, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxide, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Dextran, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol
Marini Luminate Face Lotion has a very lightweight lotion texture and absorbs instantly. According to the usage instructions, the product should be applied sparingly all over the face every other evening for the first 1-2 weeks, and then slowly increase usage, as tolerated, to once daily.
Since the formula contains retinol, I have only been using it in my nightly skincare routine (after cleansing and toning). I actually made the mistake of not reading the instructions carefully and started using this product as my night-time treatment + moisturizer. Sure, it’s hydrating enough even for my dry skin, but after a few days of use my skin felt very sensitive (like when I used makeup wipes at the end of the day). That’s when I realized I had probably been using more than the recommended amount for everyday and my skin needed a little more time to acclimate , because of how concentrated this product is! So, I switched to using only a small amount (a little less than a pea-size) for my whole face, and then applying my night cream. This routine has worked very well for me, without any sensitivity or irritation issues! And of course, you can’t forget your daily sunscreen when using this retinol-based formula.
I have got to say I’m pleased with the results so far! My skin is definitely looking more even-toned, brighter and much smoother after about three weeks of use. I am a faithful sunscreen applicator (and preach it left and right!) but that’s not how it was a few years ago. Thanks to all those years of frolicking in the sun without a sunscreen (plus my ongoing struggle with acne breakouts), I do have noticeable discoloration and brown spots on my face, and I will continue to use this treatment on those pesky spots to see if I can get them to fade and eventually disappear! If you are also looking for an effective, brightening face lotion without hydroquinone to lighten discoloration, Marini Luminate Face Lotion ($98 for 1 oz) is worth trying out! Available at janmarini.com, dermstore.com and through authorized professional JMSR resellers.
What do you think of the new Marini Luminate Face Lotion? Will you be giving it a try? I’d love to know how it works for you!
