Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector is an oil-free multitasking formula that promises the benefits of a skin treatment and protection with the coverage of a sheer foundation.
New for summer 2016, theDesigned to instantly blur imperfections and even out skintone for a result that looks natural, Urban Decay’s Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector is infused with light-diffusing spheres and nourishing ingredients (including peptides, vitamins and moisturizers) to improve the look of radiance, tone and texture. And it has SPF 20 to protect against sun damage. According to Urban Decay, Naked Skin One & Done gets the job done so well, there’s no need for foundation — one step and you’re done! Well….does it live up to the claims? Continue reading to find out…
Naked Skin One & Done comes in a sleek, metallic tube with champagne and gunmetal ombré artwork. I really like the sleek look and also the convenient airless pump makes it easy to dispense the product without any wastage.
I was really excited about this new complexion perfector because of the lightweight, one-step coverage it offers but it turned out to be a bit of let down for me the first time I used it. That’s because I applied it on my freshly washed, clean face without any moisturizer or hydrating primer. With its light creamy texture, I assumed the formula will be moisturizing enough for my drier skin but that was clearly not the case! I just patted it on my face with my fingers and had a hard time applying the formula evenly and blending. As a result, it looked patchy and kinda like sitting on top of my skin instead of a smooth finish. However, I think those with combination to oily skin won’t have this problem.
So, I learnt my lesson and next time applied it over my moisturizer with SPF (which is actually how I am going to use this product most days because the SPF in a foundation or any makeup is never enough by itself to provide complete sun protection). This time, the formula glided on smoothly and melted into my skin easily providing a satiny-smooth finish.
Now let’s talk about the coverage. Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done evens out my skin tone beautifully and provides buildable sheer to light coverage that conceals any redness and blurs minor imperfections with a satin-matte finish. Just for your reference, the coverage is definitely better than Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm! Also, I like how the finish is quite natural and brightens up my dull skin nicely.
That said, I think it deserves to be mentioned that my skin is in pretty bad shape these days with frequent acne breakouts (thanks hormones!) and acne scars from the recent breakout sessions. So, currently I need really good coverage and Naked Skin One & Done cannot do that for me. Yes, it gives me a ‘my skin but better’ look but there’s not enough coverage for me to skip foundation. My shade is Medium. Here are the swatches of all the 6 shades from Urban Decay’s Instagram…
Normally, when my skin is not ‘misbehaving’, this is exactly the type of product I would reach out for everyday use (especially in summer) to get lightweight, sheer coverage that looks natural. So, I guess I just have to wait for my skin to clear up before I can start using this product on a regular!
To sum it up, I’d say Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector ($34) has been a really nice addition to my summer makeup stash. It does leave a little to be desired in the moisture department for my dry skin but overall it’s a fabulous complexion perfecting product for a natural makeup look that never looks made up! If you have problematic skin that needs a lot of coverage, or very dry skin it might not work for you. However, it’s worth trying out for sure!
