New from Clinique, the High Impact™ Custom Black Kajal is a pigment-packed kajal pencil eyeliner that promises to deliver rich, dark color with 12 hours of staying power. It’s formulated to resist smudging, sweat, humidity and water. The product is ophthalmologist and allergy tested (free of fragrance, camphor or any other irritants) and appropriate for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, too.

These kajal pencils really live up the claims providing rich pigment coupled with a smudge-proof formula that glides on smoothly without any drag or skipping. The color payoff is excellent. When I used them for the first time, they needed an extra swatch or two to get going (which is pretty common with most pencil eyeliners) but after that, I get one-swipe color with these. You can also easily smudge out the line for a smoky look and the formula gives you a good amount of play time to do so.
Once set, the color lasts practically all day on my lash line without fading or smudging. The staying power is quite decent on the waterline as well, about 5 hours. And there’s no migrating and settling into the fine creases under my eyes so no raccoon eyes! Here are the swatches :

To test their water resistant claim, I ran cold water over these three swatches on my hand and was happy to see that there was no running or bleeding. They did not budge until I rubbbed them off! So, now I know this kajal pencil isn’t going anywhere, even if I wear it to a tear-jerker drama or to my zumba class! Not to mention, the formula is suitable even for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, so no irritation issues!
