Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick is a new range of pigment-rich lipsticks that offer bold, long-lasting color with a matte finish. Infused with Monoi oil, the formula is supposed to be non-drying, creamy and comfortable on lips.
Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick comes in 17 shades and I picked up two – I Am Positive (08) and I Am Radiant (12).
Milani already has a line of Color Statement Matte Lipsticks but I haven’t tried those. So, I won’t be able to compare the formula of the new Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick with the older Color Statement Matte Lipsticks.
That said, let’s see how the new Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick measures up!
Both the shades I tried have rich color payoff in a single layer and glide on my lips smoothly. The texture is slightly creamy with a lightweight, velvety feel. The finish is matte but not ‘ultra-matte’ and I really like that!
I am a big fan of long-wearing lipsticks, but don’t like the way they usually feel on my lips (dry, tight) Not this one! The formula of Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick is not hydrating but it isn’t drying either, like most matte lipsticks.
My lips are on the drier side (especially now in winter) so I usually tend to use a lip balm before applying any matte lipstick. But these matte lipsticks don’t leave my lips feeling parched over time, even without a layer of lip balm underneath. The non-drying formula stays put with a comfortable feel and doesn’t emphasize my lip lines.
If your lips are super dry at the moment though, you might want to prep with a sugar scrub or use a lip balm for smoother application.
For these two shades, the wear time is about 5 hours and as I said, the color holds up well without accentuating dryness and also fades evenly. The formula has a sweet vanilla scent but it’s not strong at all and doesn’t linger around.
The shade I am Radiant is a matte terracotta while I am Positive is a matte medium-dark brown with slightly warm undertones. Here are the swatches:
Bottom Line
Overall, Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick gets a thumbs up from me.
