As the name suggests, Makeup Revolution Pore Blur Primer is an oil-free gel primer that promises to minimize the appearance of pores while helping to set makeup in place all day. Vegan and cruelty-free, the formula also contains antioxidant-rich Vitamin E to help nourish skin.
I have dry skin with large pores (that are fairly noticeable) on my cheeks. Lately, I have been trying to find a primer that blurs out the appearance of pores without being too matte. Most of the pore blurring primers have a mattifying formula geared towards oily skin types, but I don’t need any shine or oil control.
So I bought this Makeup Revolution Pore Blur Primer hoping it would help me hide those pesky pores (as much as possible!) without an overly matte finish. Does it live up to my expectations?

Makeup Revolution Pore Blur Primer comes in a 0.95 oz squeeze tube. It’s a silicone-based primer with a super lightweight, silky gel texture that goes on very smoothly with a velvety feel.
The formula absorbs easily without any pilling and doesn’t feel thick or tacky. In fact, it’s so light that it doesn’t even feel like I applied anything on my face at all. It leaves no shine or dewiness and sets to a soft matte finish. Also, it’s light peach in color but applies transparently on the skin.
This primer does a great job of smoothing my skin’s texture and giving it a softened look. I just apply a small amount in a thin layer after my moisturizer and then blend foundation on top. It does help my makeup apply more easily and evenly without clinging to any dry patches on my face.
However, when it comes to blurring my large pores I feel like this primer does leave a little something to be desired. It does a good job of softening the appearance of my pores but it doesn’t blur them enough to make a whole lot of difference.
That being said, if I compare it to my favorite hydrating primer by Covergirl (which is not a pore-blurring formula), this one is definitely better at smoothing and filling in pores.
Benefit POREfessional Primer Dupe
Another thing worth a mention is that the Makeup Revolution Pore Blur Primer is said to be a Benefit POREfessional Primer dupe and I think that’s right! I have tried Benefit’s primer and the formula is very similar to this pore blur primer by Makeup Revolution.
In my opinion, the only difference is that the Benefit primer is slightly more mattifying which probably makes it more suitable for oily or combination skin. Since I have dry skin, I actually prefer this Makeup Revolution primer and it’s so much cheaper!
If you are a fan of the Benefit POREfessional primer ($32), this affordable dupe is absolutely worth trying out for only $8!
Bottom Line
Overall, I like the Makeup Revolution Pore Blur Primer. It’s quite smoothing but not perfect in terms of pore-blurring for my large pores. I was expecting a bit more from the formula, considering the product claims!
It might be a lot better for those with smaller pores. I’ll still continue using it though because the texture is nice and creates a very smooth canvas for makeup.
