Google ‘anti-aging products’ and you will be presented with a plethora of cosmetics which promise to give you miraculously younger looking skin in a matter of days. With all the outlandish claims about making your pores disappear, vanishing blemishes and wrinkles ,it is difficult to understand what’s best for your skin. However, it would be really naïve to take those claims at face value and you will simply be left with your not-so-happy skin and a lighter wallet. That said, I do not mean that all the anti-aging cosmetics out there are useless and do not help aging skin. It’s just that before you pick any anti-aging cosmetic product, it’s smart to look at contents to see if it offers at least a few of the useful ingredients for skin mainly – antioxidants (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Soy extract, green tea, grapeseed extract), peptides, ceramides, retinol/retinyl palmitate and phospholipids. It’s also helpful to read up on reviews for that specific product by consumers like you (on reputed websites like amazon.com, drugstore.com and other cosmetic retail websites). This gives you an idea of the efficacy of the product depending on how many reviewers have rated it positively and what can be expected realistically after using it. Keep in mind that more expensive doesn’t always mean more effective or superior when it comes to skincare. If possible, do a little research sometimes on what’s latest and most effective for aging skin……and your skin will thank you!
The effort to maintain or restore a youthful skin does not only involve cosmetic ingredients but it also includes a good skincare regimen, healthy diet and lifestyle. I recently received an ‘Anti-aging guide’ from a good beauty news website. It has some interesting and useful expert tips with top rated products, anti -aging skin care plan from 20’s to 50’s, and even some anti-aging makeup tricks!
