Last weekend, I used the beauty coupon booklet that I received in my Target beauty bag and picked up a few goodies from Target. I have been meaning to try the new Revlon ColorBurst lip losses so I got one in Peony, I also wanted to pick Rosegold but it was not in stock at the store. Revlon’s Super Lustrous lip glosses are my favorite drugstore lipglosses and these new lip glosses from Revlon do not disappoint either.
When I first saw the Revlon ColorBurst lipglosses display, I noticed that pretty much all of these have lots of shimmer/ microglitter in them. This made me a little skeptical because I avoid anything with too much sparkle or glitter but I really wanted to try them out. And then I was pleasantly surprised because once applied on the lips, the shimmer is not over-the-top and the texture also doesn’t feel glittery.
So, now let’s talk about the shade – Peony is a peachy pink with golden shimmer….. sounds familiar? Yes, I have read that Peony is a dupe for the NARS Orgasm lipgloss. Not owning the NARS version, I can’t compare them side by side but I hope that’s right 🙂 . It’s totally my kinda color and caught my eye first on the display.
This lipgloss is nicely pigmented and gives my lips a lovely hint of color with shine. The color Peony actually looks a lot brighter in the tube but applies kind of sheer on the lips if you don’t layer it enough. I also had a sample of ColorBurst lipgloss in Hot Pink from the Target beauty bag and this shade is much more pigmented and the color shows up very well on lips. The lipgloss feels so moisturizing on lips and yet lightweight. (has sweet almond oil and vitamin E in the ingredients). I really like that there is no fragrance or flavor in the ColorBurst lip gloss that I can detect. Another thing that stands out is that ColorBurst lipgloss is not sticky at all which is a big positive for me, (just wish even MAC lip glasses had less stickiness). Here are the swatches of ColorBurst lipglosss in Peony and Hot pink.
The staying power is pretty decent but you have to reapply after a while to keep your lips all glossy. The shine is good but nothing out of the ordinary as claimed on the Revlon website. However, it keeps your lips moist even after the shine is gone. The packaging is also sleek. Overall, a great buy……will pick a couple more shades soon.
I like to wear Peony on top of one of my favorite pink lipstick MAC Bombshell and it gives me pretty pink lips with a touch of goldy shimmer. Does Peony look really similar to NARS Orgasm? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I bought Peony too! So I’m hoping that’s true about the NARS dupe, that would be great!! 😀

I have Hot Pink and it’s da bomb! And yeah, Peony is a lot like Orgasm from what I see. I am not a fan of NARS lipgloss textures so, I might give Peony a shot. Thanks for the review, Harshleen 🙂

Spot on! 😀 I’ve seen a swatch of NARS’ Orgasm lip gloss, which I won’t wear because:1.it’s sticky and with side swept bangs?eww,2.I’m too poor for most of the line!XD It really is a spot on dupe, maybe a bit more pink/peach in comparison but no one will know the difference unless they’re a NARS diehard.
