I have naturally wavy, thick and very dry hair prone to frizz so I always use a smoothing and hydrating leave-in serum to keep my tresses well moisturized. I came across DermOrganic Leave-in Treatment with Argan Oil as I was looking for an anti-frizz product comparable to the effects of Moroccan Oil. I had never heard of this brand before but the product details got me interested – it has the same wonder ingredient “argan oil” with fewer “cones” on the list and it’s not that pricy.
Product description
DermOrganic Leave-in Treatment, based on Morrocan Argan Fruit Oil, has the unique quality of instant absorption into hair. It restores shine and softness while strengthening brittle hair. Replenishes nourishment to dry, damaged, colored hair. Protects hair from styling heat and UV damage. Leave-in Treatment is ideal for color treated hair and can be used everyday on wet or dry hair as needed.
Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Argan Oil, Grapeseed Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) Glycereth-2 Cocoate/Benzoic Acid (Natural Preservative), Fragrance.
Does it live upto the claims?
Yes, it does help to tame the frizz and flyaways. This leave-in treatment feels like a lightweight oil as you rub it in your hands and smooth over your tresses. At first, I was a little concerned that it might weigh down my hair but it doesn’t. Even though I have thick, wavy and long hair, all I need is a dime-sized amount per section (I section my hair in two) and it spreads easily throughout the length of my hair. The directions indicate to use the product on towel-dried, clean hair for best results and that’s how I prefer to use it. I hardly use a blow dryer or flat iron so I’ve been putting this on damp hair after brushing lightly with a wide-tooth comb and letting it air dry. I have also tried using it on clean, dry hair and it doesn’t leave my hair greasy. Just make sure that you do not use too much or your hair might look limp or oily. I really like that the ingredient list does not have any alcohol or artificial dyes which obviously isn’t any good for your hair. It is also free of sulfates and parabens.
As for the shine, I did not see any noticeable improvement. Also, I am not too fond of the fruity fragrance but it’s not overwhelming and goes away within a few minutes. This leave-in product is also said to protect hair from styling heat but if you tend to use a blow dryer or flat iron very often, you should probably use a separate product to get adequate heat protection.
Overall, I am glad to have found this argan oil leave-in treatment because it is pretty effective in keeping the frizz down and leaves my dry hair smooth and easily manageable. The price is just right (I got mine from Amazon for about $13 for a 4oz bottle) and a little bit really goes a long way. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for an anti-frizz leave-in product that’s free of excessive chemicals and is also budget-friendly!
Available at Drugstore.com and Amazon.com
I have also seen it at Marshall’s but not sure if it’s a regular item there.
