As you might have heard, Maybelline has recently introduced a new line of blushes called Dream Bouncy blushes that are popping up at the drugstores and mass retailers right now. Available in 10 shades, Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blush claims to have a “unique bouncy texture for the freshest flush ever! The revolutionary powder-gel formula is lightweight like a powder, yet it melts seamlessly into skin like a cream, for a sheer wash of bouncy-fresh color that lasts!”
I was drawn to the shade Peach Satin as it looked just bright enough but not too bold. The texture of the Dream Bouncy blush is quite interesting. It feels like a soft sponge when you touch it and does have a slight bounce as the name indicates. Even though the formula is very soft’n smooth, there is not enough creaminess nor does it really melt into my skin like a traditional cream product. As with any cream blush, I prefer applying this blush using my fingertips and it blends really well without much effort.
If you read the description above, you would notice that this blush promises only a sheer wash of color and that’s exactly how it is – in fact the color-payoff is very sheer as it requires at least 2 -3 layers to get noticeable color on your cheeks. The result is more of a naturally flushed look that I like a lot! I do wish this shade had a little bit of sheen/shimmer or at least a dewy finish for a soft glowy effect. As for the staying power, I do not get more than 3 – 4 hours of wear time which is decent for a drugstore blush. Take a look at the swatches below :
Overall, I liked Maybelline’s new Dream Bouncy blush in Peach satin but I am really not sure about going back for more shades from the line. Although I don’t have a problem with the sheer pigmentation, I had higher expectations from the formula in terms of finish and lasting ability. If you are eager to try these out, I’d recommend waiting for a BOGO sale or coupon instead of paying the full price of $8 a piece.

Looks pretty, but it looks like it has a slight sheen to it.

The formula sounds very unique, but the lacking pigment is unfortunate!

Fabuless beauty – Unfortunately, the sheen doesn’t show up on my cheeks 🙁

Vintage makeup – It’s not a bad product overall but I was hoping a bit more from this blush.

I am really waiting for these to be launched in India. To me it would be more of a fun makeup product than a makeup makeup 😛

Love that shade, peachy colours are my fave. Shame about the pigment. Hope they launch it here soon!

I have never tried a cream blush….which brand would you reccomend?
Harshleen says
Mystique – I like Revlon and Mac for cream blushers.

I actually bought this blush the other day (I don’t remember what color) but I adore it! I don’t like cream blushes (too heavy) and powder blushes don’t stay so this is perfect for me. It’s the perfect color for a day at work under our bright florescent lights and I have no problem with it staying bright and fresh. I wear it over my primer and foundation but under my loose powder and no problems at all. So far, so good. <3

Ashley – Glad that it works for you so well! It is def appropriate for workplace.
