I was recently asked by a reader to recommend a good hand cream with SPF so I thought of doing a quick post about it. Do you use an SPF product to protect your hands? If not, then you should! Our hands are usually the first to show signs of aging so it’s really important to apply a sunscreen especially when you are outdoors to prevent your hands looking much older than your face. You don’t really need to buy a separate hand cream with SPF, just use your favorite SPF lotion and you are good to go! That said, I admit I need to get better in doing that as I tend to forget applying sunscreen on my hands and that’s why I always keep a sunscreen in my purse and also my car.
Now, I do have a few favorites but they are not specifically hand creams. The first one is a moisturizer with SPF that I have also been using on my face – Devita Solar Body Block SPF 30+ Luxury solar body lotion. This is a wonderful zinc-oxide based sunscreen with an all-natural, non-greasy yet moisturizing formula that leaves absolutely no white cast on your skin and offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection. And it’s not expensive either – a 7 oz tube costs only $27.95. You can read my full review here
Another of my favorite is Banana Boats natural reflect kids sunscreen lotion SPF 50+ broad-spectrum ($10.99 for 4oz). I bought this recently from Target for my 3 year old daughter but this one would be a great SPF choice for summers. I like this product because of its very water resistant, mineral sunscreen based high SPF formula that provides long-lasting protection from sun’s damaging rays. This sunscreen is not completely natural and does leave a bit of white cast but doesn’t feel greasy or sticky on hands. This sunscreen will also be my SPF buddy during my upcoming vacation to Caribbean….can’t wait for that!
