My hair frizzes the instant it meets humidity and I’ve found that very few products live up to their promise to truly fight frizz without dulling or weighing hair down. But I was intrigued by the frizz-fighting technology behind Living Proof Frizz products that do not rely on silicones and heavy oils to conquer frizz and claims to block humidity weightlessly with a lightweight molecule PolyfluoroEster. It’s the key ingredient in the Frizz line and addresses the two causes of frizz, providing a humidity barrier while reducing surface friction.
From Living Proof :
Say goodbye to silicones and heavy oils that can weigh hair down and make it look and feel greasy. Meet our miracle molecule, OFPMA. It does what oils and silicones can’t:
eliminates frizz by blocking humidity
smooths without weighing hair down
repels dirt and oil to keep hair cleaner, longer
OFPMA does this by creating an exquisitely thin shield around each hair strand to lock in moisture-proof smoothness. The optimum shield is built and established over the first fives uses. With each use its frizz-fighting powers only get better — meaning it becomes stronger over time. Hair is smooth, soft, shiny, with lightweight, long lasting humidity protection for days. Whatever your style, welcome to the 1st day of your frizz-free life.
Let’s start with the shampoo. Although a sulfate-free formula, it forms a rich lather and leaves my hair squeaky clean. However, I find that it’s not hydrating enough for my dry strands as my hair feels slightly stripped. As for the conditioner, it isn’t extra thick or creamy but does a great job of smoothing and locking in moisture. It rinses out easily without weighing my hair down. Both the shampoo and conditioner are safe for color & chemically treated hair and have a light scent that’s quite pleasant.
Now moving on to the Living Proof Frizz Leave-in-Conditioner. Developed to nourish and restore moisture to dry, damaged hair, this leave-in formula is formulated to be used on damp hair after shampooing and conditioning. I section my hair in two and apply it throughout except for near the roots. Whether I let my hair air dry or use a blow dryer, this leave-in conditioner works very well to moisturize while taming frizz & smoothing flyaways to a great extent. And being oil & silicone free, it doesn’t weigh down my hair or make it look flat/greasy the next day. The result is soft, bouncy and well behaved tresses without much of its usual frizz.
Overall, I am pretty impressed with the Living Proof Frizz line. The leave-in conditioner is definitely the standout product to combat frizz but I find that using the complete No Frizz regimen together certainly helps to keep my hair looking cleaner longer and retain volume even at the roots (doesn’t get greasy as fast). It’s also worth noting that the No Frizz products stood up admirably (if not quite flawlessly) in the face of some serious July/August humidity and kept my hair from going totally bonkers.
