It doesn’t matter what type of complexion you have, sun protection is important for everybody to prevent premature aging. SPF is crucial not just when you hit the beach but every single day….. and for every inch of your face! If you aren’t already getting your face and lips protected every morning, now is the time to start.
Here are three of my current favorite lip balms with SPF :
Elta MD UV Lip Balm Broad Spectrum SPF 31 ($10) – Formulated with zinc oxide and nourishing antioxidants, this lip balm combats the harmful effects of damaging UVA and UVB rays as it neutralizes free-radicals to keep your pout healthy and hydrated. The vitamin E and olive oil infused formula manages to be lightweight yet nourishing. It’s also water-resistant and fragrance and paraben-free. The only fault with this lip balm is that it leaves a slight white cast on lips as you apply but thankfully that goes away after a few minutes.
Supergoop! SPF 30+ Acai Fusion Lip Balm ($8.50) – With the strength of a super berry, this lip balm not only offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection but the shea butter rich formula also provides long-lasting comfort for dry or chapped lips while adding a sheer pink tint. Works great over or under your favorite lip color. Free of oxybenzone, parabens and fragrances.
Alba Botanica Natural Very Emollient Sunscreen Natural Protection Lip Care SPF 25 ($2.99) – This natural lip balm combines broad-spectrum SPF protection with long-lasting moisture from a conditioning blend of natural plant oils & butters while adding a hint of color to lips. Easily available at the drugstores, this one is an all-out beauty bargain!
