Last night’s Met Gala provided to be a fashion forward affair with the evening’s theme of “PUNK: Chaos to Couture Look,” allowing us to see our favorite celebs get funky with their coif. Boston Stylist and industry expert, Marc Harris of Marc Harris Salons and Spas shares with us his top three picks for the most surprising, avant-garde styles.
Anne Hathaway goes blond…really blond…
Anne, who is widely considered one of Hollywood’s classic brunette beauties, surprised the crowd with her blond locks but the girl looks stunning as usual! For Anne, Marc suggests using a two-process approach. Bleach and then a toner so you aren’t left with any orange. The darker the hair, the more difficult it is to achieve blonde hair without any brassiness. Take caution when going more than three shades blonde at a time; hair can be easily damaged by the dramatic color process.
Nicole Richie goes gray…with a hint of blue
Nicole’s grayish/blue hue definitely made a statement (although there’s something about the gray hair/super bronzed look that I’m not digging). To rock it like Nicole, Marc suggests bleach then a blue toner to give the color a grey/blue balance.
Miley Cyrus gets spiked
Miley took her already punk-ish cut one step further last night by utilizing the length of her hair and a great, strong hold gel. For Miley’s wild look, Marc suggests taking tips and sections of hair and coating them with gel. Additionally, Miley plays up the contrast of the color by accentuating her spikes with her dark roots.
