Being a long-time fan of the awesome-but-super-expensive WEN cleansing conditioner, I am excited to see new budget friendly cleansing conditioners popping up at the drugstores! And I am happy to report that I’ve found a fantastic WEN dupe that does the job for a fraction of the price – a mere $5!
Say hello to the new Herbal Essences Naked Cleansing Conditioner!
Product Description
Renew your senses with the calming scent of herbal mint fusion. Then let this low lather hair cleansing conditioner go to work, combining the conditioning properties of a nourishing oil while gently cleansing the hair, for touchably soft hair. Naturally this sulfate-free formula is gentle enough for smoothing dry and damaged hair. Gentle Cleansing Conditioners, Sensational Moisture. 0% Parabens & colorants. 0% Sulfate. Herbal’s Naked Experience.
Just like WEN, the formula of this cleansing conditioner is rich and creamy, and spreads easily through wet hair. As with any sulfate-free formula, you have to make sure to wet your hair thoroughly first and then apply the conditioning cleanser. It does not lather up like regular shampoos and feels like a rich conditioner that you need to work through your hair by adding more water as needed and massaging all over to fully saturate hair from roots to ends. For maximum conditioning, leave in hair for 2-5 minutes as you finish up your shower and then rinse. There’s no need to follow up with a separate conditioner.
The directions suggest only 3-4 pumps of the product but I find that I need about 15 – 20 pumps for my mid length, thick hair. That said, I don’t mind it considering the budget-friendly price tag of this product as compared to WEN (for reference, it takes about 10-15 pumps of WEN to get my hair really clean)
I found that the Herbal Essences Naked Cleansing Conditioner leaves my hair thoroughly clean, soft, smooth and bouncy, not at all greasy, dull or weighed down. And did I mention I love the scent too! It’s a light and fresh, herbal scent from the rosemary and peppermint extracts in the formula and the lingers in your hair all day long.
Wondering how does this compare to WEN overall? Well, I think that the Herbal Essences version is not as rich and super luxuriously moisturizing as WEN but it’s almost as good and does a great job of cleansing hair without weighing it down and leaves it super-soft and healthy looking. If you love WEN, you’re going to love this!
At just $4.99 for a 16.9 oz bottle, Herbal Essences Naked Cleansing Conditioner is a definite repurchase for me!

So could I use this instead of Shampoo+Conditioner?
Beauty_tidbits says
SlashedBeauty Yup! Absolutely. I love it! Just be sure to wet your hair thoroughly first and add in water again if needed to spread and massage the product. As you have thick long hair like me, you’ll also need a lot of product but you will get the hang of it after using a couple of times! Hope it works for you 🙂
