When it comes to smart skincare, antioxidants are well-known anti-aging superheroes that enhance collagen production, combat the harmful free-radicals generated from sun exposure, heal and correct sun damage & discoloration and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. In short, antioxidants can do all kinds of wonderful things for your skin at virtually any age and you should be using an antioxidant serum in your skincare routine, if you’re not already.
That’s where Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum comes in! This all-natural serum is a harmonious blend of antioxidants that work synergistically to fend off free radicals, brighten, tighten & smooth the skin while curbing the aging effects of the sun. It packs a punch with a combination of Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (a more stable and bioavailable form of Vitamin C), Ferulic Acid (a natural antioxidant that reduces UV generated skin damage), Konjac Root Powder, Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid.
Here’s the full ingredient list :
Water Deionized, Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate), Alkyl Benzoate, Vegetable Glycerin, Water, Glycerin, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Clary Sage (Salvia Sclarea), Grapefruit (Citrus Grandis), Hyaluronic acid, Amorphophallus Konjac Root Powder, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Vitamin E (Tocotrienol), Ferulic acid, Chamomile Flower Extract (Recutita Matricaria), Sodium Phytate, Xanthum Gum, Hydroxyethylcellulose
I have tried many antioxidant serums before but this one quickly earned its spot in my skincare favorites because of several factors. To begin with, it has an ultra-lightweight, liquidy texture that absorbs super quickly leaving a smooth, non-sticky base for your moisturizer with SPF. Layering an antioxidant serum underneath sunscreen easily adds a second line of defense against UV damage since antioxidants neutralize UV generated free radicals and help your sunscreen work better.
The formula has a very light, pleasant floral scent that dissipates quickly after application. A little goes a long way with this serum as I just need 1-2 drops to cover my whole face and neck. It is slightly hydrating but not at all greasy or sticky…great for all skin types!
After using this serum everyday for about about 3-4 weeks, I have definitely noticed an improvement in the appearance of my skin tone and texture. It looks smoother, brighter and more even-toned (my skin totally needed that after those countless hours of fun in the sun this summer!) It’s also worth mentioning that I have acne prone skin (damn you hormonal breakouts!) but this serum played nicely with my sensitive, finicky skin and never once made me break out.
Bottom Line
If you’re looking for a natural and gentle, no-sting vitamin C serum that’s free of any harsh preservatives and alcohol, Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum is an excellent pick to incorporate in your skincare routine! And the price is also right at $34 for 1oz of product. This Vitamin C serum definitely deserves a two thumbs up!

Would you recommend this over the Dream E vitamin c serum?

Both of them are almost equally good ingredients wise! But I prefer Derma e vitamin c serum because first it’s a bit more hydrating and secondly it has a pump applicator….and I admit I love its light soothing scent as well!
