New from MUA Makeup Academy, the Color Drenched Lip Butters are velvety lip colors formulated to nourish lips while providing opaque, creamy coverage. These are available in 10 shades: Bare, Brick, Cashmere, Honey, Mulberry, Nude, Plum, Red, Rose, and Spice to flatter every skin tone.
This creamy lip butter goes on really smooth with just one swipe and feels quite hydrating. The pigmentation is excellent with a rich color payoff, more like a lipstick! For all the shades below, I didn’t have to put on more than two layers to get a vibrant effect. The staying power is pretty good as well and the colors last for quite a while without wearing off, if you’re not eating or drinking.
The shades I tried are Cashmere (nude beige), Brick (bright red), Plum (plummy-purple) and Honey (nude rose). Honey is a great everyday color that you can wear to work or out running errands. It goes with pretty much everything you wear or however your makeup is done! Cashmere is a nicely pigmented nude lippie but the color doesn’t seem to look very flattering on my light-medium complexion. However, I think it would work well for pale to fair skin tones. Brick is a creamy, vibrant red great for a classic red lip look whereas Plum would be a great pick for fall/winter season when you are in the mood for a rich, sultry look. See the swatches below…
If you’re on the hunt for an affordable lipstick with a creamy texture, vibrant color and fairly good staying power, MUA Color Drenched Lip Butters are definitely worth checking out! Available at CVS and Amazon.com for $8 each.
