New from Urban Decay, the All Nighter Liquid Foundation is an oil-free, full-coverage, waterproof foundation with a completely matte finish that promises to last all night for a flawless-looking complexion. Available in 24 shades, this foundation is a part of the new Urban Decay Fall 2016 lineup.
With my dry skin, I usually don’t go for oil-abosrbing matte foundations like this one but the promise of full coverage with seriously long-lasting wear lured me into buying it! So, did it manage to make it way into my list of favorites to achieve complexion perfection? Keep reading to find out….
Product Description
All Nighter Liquid Foundation provides full coverage with a modern matte finish that never looks overdone. Perfect for a night on the town, this innovative formula is also comfortable enough to wear every day.
While Naked Skin complexion products are demi-matte, All Nighter Liquid Foundation is completely matte—but never flat (and it’s oil-free!). We loaded this formula with an insane amount of pigment (about three times as much as Naked Skin Liquid Makeup), so a little goes a long way. There’s no need to build coverage or apply multiple layers. This waterproof, paraben-free formula diffuses light to blur flaws for beautifully perfected skin as it mattifies and absorbs oil to reduce the appearance of shine.
Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation comes in a sleek, edgy bottle that has a metallized gunmetal effect with asymmetric cutouts. As cool as it looks, it’s also practical; the shade is clearly visible, but the bottle never looks messy. It also comes with an airless pump which makes it easy to get out every last bit of product.
Now let’s talk about the formula. I tried the shade 5.5 which turned out to be a pretty good match for my light-medium skintone. Although designed to provide full-coverage, the foundation has a lightweight, slightly creamy texture that doesn’t feel thick or mask like on my skin. That said, it does need some prep for easy application and blending, especially if you have normal to dry skin like me.
The first time I applied this foundation, I found it a bit difficult to spread over my face with my fingers and blend even though I had moisturized my skin before (maybe my skin was extra dry that day!) It looked blotchy and clinged to my dry areas…not an even, smooth finish at all! Next time, I made sure to moisturize my skin well, apply a hydrating primer and then use a wet Beauty Blender to blend which made the application much smoother! I put one to two pumps on the back of my hand to warm the product. Then, I just tap on and roll to blend.
As promised, this foundation has a completely matte finish. The coverage is great, and take cares of most of my acne scars and other imperfections, but the finish is drier and more matte than I prefer. As for the longevity, it truly does wear all day (or night!) and holds up really well even in the summer heat and humidity! The formula is very long-lasting and doesn’t fade or wear off until I remove it. No touch-ups required! Here’s a swatch of the shade 5.5 that I got…
Overall, I’d say this a fabulous foundation that covers pretty much everything even on my problematic skin (discoloration, redness, acne scars, dullness, et al.) and stays put all day long, provided if I moisturize and prime my dry skin very well before applying. That said, I am a much lazier person and prefer as less steps as possible! If I don’t prep well, it has a much drier finish that doesn’t look ‘flattering’ on my naturally dry skin. And this is during summertime! As winter comes, my skin becomes even more dry and I switch to hydrating creamy formulas for a dewy, luminous finish so this one won’t be a good candidate for the colder months for sure!
But for those of you with with combination to oily skin, I think Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation is a keeper! It’s mattifying, oil-absorbing formula will give you the long-lasting all day coverage you crave, while keeping unwanted shine at bay. It’s available at Sephora for $40.
What do you think of Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation? Does it sound like the perfect foundation you need or do you prefer a more natural-looking finish?
