Liquid lipsticks, particularly matte ones, are trending for Fall! Call it the Kylie Jenner effect, a perfectly matte pout is perfectly in season but to be honest I am not really #madformattes, simply because I have dry lips.
That said, the amazing pigment payoff and super-long wear of matte liquid lipsticks do entice me, so I’ve tried several!
I need something that provides the dry look of a matte without the uncomfortable dryness. And I am happy to report that I have found a few matte liquid lipsticks that are pretty comfortable to wear, easy to apply, don’t require frequent touch-ups and offer high-impact matte color that won’t dry out lips.
And the best part is that all of them are under $10 and most of them can easily be found at your local drugstores! Who says you have to shell out big bucks for the best matte liquid lipsticks?
Here are the best matte liquid lipsticks (under $10) that are long-lasting and won’t dry your lips! You NEED these!
L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss ($9.99) – This liquid lisptick delivers intense color with a matte finish but it’s nothing like a traditional matte (drying) lip color. The formula isn’t really moisturizing but love it for the fact that it wears quiet comfortably no matter how dry my lips are!
And it’s pretty long-lasting too with about 5 hours of wear time without the color migrating or feathering. I don’t like the perfume-y scent but thankfully it fades away after some time.
Milani Amore Matte Lip Crème ($8.99) – Crazy matte love! This highly saturated liquid-to-matte formula dries very matte leaving behind a velvety finish and not a parched pout. It provides bold, opaque color that lasts super long and doesn’t transfer or budge all day!
And it smells like buttercream frosting…sweet!! Milani has recently added 10 new shades, from a nude brown to deep crimson red and cranberry that are perfect for fall!
ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Color ($6) – Available in a whopping 43 shades, this is a truly matte lip color that lasts a really long time without much transfer, and even hold its ground through smooches! It provides full-coverage, intense color that won’t smudge or budge, and actually dries pretty quickly but make sure your lips are bare, dry, and exfoliated for the smoothest finish.
I am loving the shade Baracuda (warm deep rose) from their new Fall Edit collection! If you love bold, ultra matte lippies, this one is sure to please and the budget-friendly price of $6 makes it a rather fabulous beauty bargain!
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ($5.99) – This NYX classic doesn’t need an introduction, right? The formula has a lightweight creamy texture that drenches lips in opaque color and wears smoothly & comfortablly even on my dry lips.
It tends to wear away within three to four hours but manages to leave behind a bit of pigment so lips aren’t completely bare once it’s gone!
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color ($7.99) – Want a more wearable matte? This is a velvety liquid lipstick with a creamy gel-like consistency that has a lightweight, comfortable feel. The formula isn’t your average everyday drying matte so it’s great for those of us with dry lips.
Pigmentation is great and applies opaque in a single layer. It may not last as long as some of the other ones in this list, but I much prefer comfort over longevity. For a nude-lipstick hoarder like me, Nude Flush (pictured above) is the perfect shade that works for day or night.
NYX Lip Lingerie ($7) – This is smooth, creamy nude velvety liquid lip color at its best! The full-on matte finish is elegant and packs plenty of pigment! The formula wears for a solid five-six hours and has a comfortably light texture that’s on par with high-end liquid lipsticks!
It’s definitely one of my top favorites in the list and is a must-have for nude liquid lipstick lovers!
Sephora Collection Wonderful Cushion Matte Lip Cream ($8) – This one is described as a ‘full-coverage lip stain’ that comes with a cushion-tip applicator and has a creamy, thin formula that sets to a powdery matte finish.
There are only 4 shades available, all of them being bright and intense…not for the faint of heart! Great for those who want a vibrant, bold matte lip look!
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color ($7.99) – These are not completely matte in finish but I like the creamy formula that wears really well without drying out my lips! They deliver a pop of color in just one swipe and set to a semi-matte finish, lasting for about 3-5 hours without migrating or cracking.
H&M Velvet Lip Cream ($9.99) – This liquid lipstick has a mousse-like texture that dries to a velvety matte, full-coverage finish. It glides on easily, and hugs lips in gorgeous color without feeling heavy or dry on the lips but I didn’t find the formula very long-lasting.
They have 6 shades in the range, my favorite is Pep Talk (a bright pink). These are worth indulging in!
Hard Candy Velvet Mousse Matte Lip Color ($6) – True to its name, the formula has a lightweight mousse-like texture with a velvety cream to matte finish that’s not patchy at all. The color really sticks around, even through lunch and 2-3 cups of tea!
However, the formula doesn’t get along very well with my naturally dry lips. Although not harshly dry on the lips, it starts to feel a bit tacky after about two hours of wear. Overall these are nice, I wouldn’t say it’s the best matte liquid lipstick I’ve tried but for $6 they are good enough! And they get bonus points for cute packaging!
