As you may have gathered by now, I’m all about the moisture, and that healthy skin “glow”! I’m never more confident than when I have smooth, glowing skin. And that’s why I was super excited to try the new Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm that promises a long-lasting, radiant glow. So, does this product really live up to its claims and gives me an ethereal glow? Let’s find out….

First things first, the packaging is beautiful! Yes, I am not a fan of jars (for makeup or skincare), but can’t deny admiring this pretty little thing…it’s lovely! That said, the glass jar (0.5 oz size) is a little heavy and holds less product than I’d hoped for. For the price, I wish the amount of product offered was more!
As for the formula itself, it has a very light creamy soft texture that feels oh-so-good on my skin and absorbs almost instantly. It’s recommended to be used as the last step of your skin care routine, and as the first step of makeup to smooth and prime. And that’s exactly what it does! It leaves my skin velvety smooth, moisturized and nicely prepped for makeup but without any signs of oiliness or shine. However, I’m a bit disappointed because I was hoping for a bit more ‘glowy’ effect which isn’t really there. It has a satiny, soft matte finish that I know so many of you (especially those with combination to oily skin) would love!
I love how this feels on my face but with my dry skin, I wish it gave me a slightly dewy finish! It does go really well with the Josie Maran Vibrancy Argan Oil Foundation Fluid and helps my makeup stay put all day (no matter which foundation I have used). And a little goes a long way—all I need is a dime-sized amount for my full face.
If you are looking for a lightweight and hydrating primer that won’t leave you shiny but just adds a very subtle natural-looking glow, Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm would be a great choice! As an added bonus, it’s loaded with skin-loving natural ingredients that soothe, hydrate & smooth without a heavy feel.
