Today I am showcasing 5 of my current favorite red lipsticks that I find myself reaching for again and again…
Just a quick note : I got a little lazy while taking the pictures for this post and skipped photographing individual lipsticks, so I have included photos for the ones that have been featured before (when they were brand new!)
Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick in Rouge Blossom – This is a long-time favorite of mine! It’s a warm, wearable red that makes a statement, without being too bold! I love how beautifully pigmented the color is, with subtle shimmer that’s like cherry on top of the cake. The formula is smooth and creamy with a comfortable semi-matte finish. It lasts quite long and leaves a natural stain behind.
Jane Iredale PureMoist Lipstick in Cindy – Named after the iconic beauty Cindy Crawford, this is a classic red with a satin matte finish. The lightweight, creamy formula goes on super smooth with a rich color payoff and is fairly long-lasting with an average wear time of 3-4 hours.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in HitchHike – This shade is described as a ‘brick rose’ and I think that’s spot on! It’s not a classic red but more of a warm, medium red (with slightly brown undertones) that I fell in love with right from the first swipe! The formula for this one is also creamy and applies very smoothly with rich opaque color.
Although not hydrating, this lipstick wears pretty comfortably without leaving my lips feeling or looking dry….it really lives up to its smooth ‘comfort matte’ finish claim!
Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipsticks in Light-Medium Red – This is a lovely, easy-to-wear red with a subtle, coral undertone and glossy shine finish. They say walk before you run and this is a walking red, perfect for both warm and cool tones….nothing high maintenance about it! I really love the creamy, hydrating feel of this lipstick that also delivers on the pigmentation front and adds a pretty pop of red!
Youngblood Cosmetics Intimatte Mineral Matte Lipstick in Sinful – Packed with pigment, this is a bright red with fuchsia-pink undertones…a lovely shade that packs a punch without being too dramatic in color. The formula is completely matte but not drying and is also long-wearing. It’s the perfect shade for those (like me!) who don’t want a fiery red but still looking for a vibrant pop of color!
Here are the swatches of all the lipsticks…
