When it comes to probiotics, most people think of digestion. You may already be familiar with the amazing, undisputed health benefits of eating foods that contain probiotics, such as yogurt, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut or of taking probiotic supplements.
But did you know that probiotics benefits for skin are just as fascinating?
Yes, those same probiotics you may already be taking to help your digestive and immune system do their best work, can also make a huge difference when applied externally on your skin!
I was first introduced to probiotics about 5 years ago by my doctor after being diagnosed with non-celiac gluten sensitivity. Basically, I am severely allergic to gluten-containing foods. Since then, probiotic supplements have been a part of my daily routine and they have really helped ease my digestive issues!
So, when I came across the new Probulin Skin Therapy Line – a probiotics infused skincare range, I had to give it a try! And I am so glad I did…
How Can Probiotics Help Your Skin
Most of what people know about probiotics come from yogurt commercials—they’re the “friendly” bacteria that help fight inflammation in the gut and make sure your gut stays healthy, and toxin-free.
However, probiotics have also been found to provide numerous benefits when applied topically. Like dietary probiotic supplements promote a healthy balance of “good bacteria” in your gut, probiotic skincare products help maintain a healthy balance of helpful bacteria that live naturally on your skin.
When healthy, this delicate skin “ecosystem” helps protect skin from bad bacteria, environmental toxins and stressors like sun’s UV rays, pollution, and free radicals (all of which can cause inflammation and skin problems like contact dermatitis, eczema and acne).
Probulin Probiotic Skin Therapy Line
Probulin’s skin therapy line believes in taking the “un” out of “unnatural”, while delivering products that are cruelty free, air travel compliant, paraben free, fragrance-free, great for all skin types and the list goes on!
All Probulin skin care products include the scientifically tested ProbuSkin™ beneficial probiotic lysate which:
- Supports skin conditioning and healthier looking skin
- Improves skin texture and moisture
- Supports skin’s protective lipid barrier
Probulin Probiotic Facial Cleansing Gel ($24.99)
This facial cleanser has a clear gel texture that’s easy to use and effectively removes dirt, oil and impurities. I love that it has a gentle, sulfate-free formula (great for my dry skin!) and cleanses thoroughly without making my skin feel dry or tight.
Despite being completely sulfate-free, it lathers up nicely enough and gets the job done without stripping away skin’s natural moisture. The formula is suitable for all skin types and lightly scented with 100% pure essential oils of organic lavender and citrus…so refreshing!
Probulin Probiotic Facial Serum ($34.99)
This serum is my favorite product in the Probulin skincare line! Not only does it have the highest concentration of the probiotics, but this intensive serum also contains other nourishing natural ingredients like organic aloe vera gel, maple sugar extract, coconut extract and glycerin.
It has an ultra-lightweight formula that absorbs right away, leaving my skin feeling smooth and lightly moisturized. As suggested, I have been using it every morning and night after cleansing my face. Even though the formula is so light, it hydrates well and layers beautifully under my moisturizer.
Probulin Probiotic Day Cream ($29.99)
Powered by healthy probiotics plus healing jojoba esters, Vitamin E and soothing fruit extracts, this day cream is designed to provide all day moisture and nourishment while improving skin texture. And it really does what it says!
It has an elegantly lightweight texture that applies smoothly without a greasy feeling. Not only does it absorb pretty quickly but also leaves an almost matte finish, which makes it great for using under makeup and works well for all skin types!
Also, I find this day cream moisturizing enough for my dry skin but just wish it included SPF too so that I wouldn’t have to remember using a sunscreen after this.
Probulin Probiotic Night Cream ($29.99)
Probulin’s night cream is the perfect way to end your day! Infused with the goodness of organic shea butter, aloe vera and virgin marula oil, this cream has a soothing and deeply moisturizing formula. It’s packed with high levels of skin brightening antioxidants and nourishing omega fatty acids found in marula oil.
I love how the formula is so nourishing yet feels so light and isn’t tacky or greasy at all. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and well-hydrated. And a little goes a long way…just one pump is all I need!
The formula contains natural essential oils for a very light and soothing fragrance, with a delicate combination of lavender oil and chamomile flower.
