Talking about three new drugstore eyeliners today! Eyeliner has always been a makeup must-have for me, and owning one never feels like enough. Even if I have just 5-10 minutes to get ready and be out the door, eyeliner is something I never skip.
Not surprisingly, I have tried a lot of eyeliners, be it pencil, liquid, kohl, gel…you name it. For my everyday makeup, pencil eyeliners are my go-to simply because they are much easier (and quicker) to apply but I love liquid eyeliners just as much!
Since eyeliner is a product I tend to hoard, I can’t afford to splurge often enough to feed my addiction. So, drugstore eyeliners are my jam! Because let’s be real, when you love makeup as much as I do, things can start to add up, right?
So, let’s get to the new drugstore eyeliners I hauled recently…
Flower Beauty Vinyl-Eyes Glossy Gel Liner ($8.99)
This is a twist-up retractable gel-based pencil eyeliner. I love the creamy texture of this eyeliner that glides on oh-so-smoothly! Even though it’s not waterproof, the formula is fairly long-lasting and stats put without fading or smudging. It’s also well-pigmented and both the colors I tried (Galaxy and Purple Quartz) have a great color payoff.
As you can see from the swatches below, both the shades have some shimmer and I eyelike it! Most of the eyeliners I have are totally matte so these have been a lovely addition to my eyeliner collection. Both the shades are pretty but I am especially loving the purple one that makes my brown eyes pop!
This eyeliner is not quite as smudge-proof, but with a good eyeshadow primer, you should be fine. Also, it comes with its own sharpener on the other end of the pencil.
NYX Always Keepin’ It Tight Eyeliner ($8.99)
I bought this new NYX eyeliner because it has been specifically designed for the waterline but I didn’t like it much at all. The formula is not pigmented enough for the waterline. I literally have to go over 10 times before a decent amount of color shows up on the waterline! Very disappointing, especially coming from NYX!
This ultra-slim eyeliner looks a lot like the Maybelline Eyestudio Master Precise Skinny Gel Pencil but not that good performance-wise. I have been using this eyeliner along the lower lash line though. Although the color doesn’t last all day, but it doesn’t smudge or get messy. Overall, I would not recommend this eyeliner.
Rimmel Ultimate Kohl Kajal Eyeliner ($5)
I love a good creamy kohl-kajal eyeliner (my current drugstore favorite is here) and this new one by Rimmel has been a fabulous find! It’s a super-rich black with a ton of pigment and long-lasting, smudge-proof, waterproof formula. It applies smoothly and smudges out easily with your finger, making it perfect for a quick and easy smudgy-smoky look.
Once it dries, it’s quite smudge-resistant and stays put as long as you want it to! The formula is also good for layering under your eyeshadow for an edgy, sexy-smoky look. There’s also a beautiful green shade called Smoked Emerald that I want to try next!
What I really love about the Rimmel Ultimate Kohl Kajal Eyeliner is that it lasts fairly long on my waterline as well! The color doesn’t smear or bleed so I don’t have to worry about messy racoon eyes after a few hours. This is definitely a great drugstore eyeliner for kohl-rimmed eyes!
Not to mention, it’s also a good drugstore dupe for Kat Von D Basket Case Eyeliner ($19) that’s limited-edition. You have to give this Rimmel kohl kajal a try….it’s a beauty bargain at only $5!
What’s your current favorite eyeliner? Will you be trying out any of these new drugstore eyeliners?
