When I first found out that Fenty Beauty is coming out with a brand new full-coverage foundation that’s also supposed to be hydrating and long-wearing, it was music to my ears! It’s called Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation.
I have dry skin so Fenty’s Pro Filt’r Matte Foundation was just not my cup of tea — it was too matte for my liking and felt slightly drying. That’s why I was super excited to get my hands on the new Fenty Beauty Hydrating Foundation! I purchased it as soon as it became available at Sephora (along with the new Fenty Beauty Hydrating Primer) and have been using it almost everyday since the last two weeks.
Product Description
A first-of-its-kind hydrating long-wear foundation that delivers it all, with comfortable medium-to-full coverage, serious staying power, and natural finish perfect for normal to dry skin. We’re talking natural—not dewy—like your skin just had a must-needed drink of water.
Rihanna created this foundation with Grape Seed Oil and Sodium Hyaluronate to give skin the nourishing hydration it needs to stay comfortable all day. Longwear, coverage, and hydration: now you can have it all in a groundbreaking range of 50 shades!
Just like the original Pro Filt’r matte, Fenty Beauty Hydrating Foundation has a sweat and humidity resistant formula that won’t clog pores or settle into fine lines. Plus, it comes in the same 50 shades as the original Pro Filt’r, so if you already know your shade number, you’re good to go!
Fenty Beauty Hydrating Foundation Review
Fenty Beauty Hydrating Foundation comes in a portable tube (1.08 oz) that’s easy to pop in your purse. Texture wise, the formula is creamy yet lightweight and blends very easily. It’s lightly hydrating but not at all thick, greasy or shiny and feels comfortably light on my skin throughout the day.
True to its claims, this foundation provides solid medium coverage that easily builds to full coverage. I find that one to two pumps is all I need to get a flawless finish and cover pretty much everything I want to conceal (while still letting my skin look like skin!)
I just dab on a little bit more to problem areas like dark spots if I need a full-coverage look occasionally. And layering doesn’t make it look cakey or overly done up! Another plus? It doesn’t cling to any dry patches on my cheeks or settle into my huge pores.
As for the finish, it’s NOT dewy but more of a satin finish that looks natural and makes my skin look fresh & healthy. Also, I had no issues with it oxidizing as the day goes on.
Last but not the least, Fenty Beauty Hydrating Foundation also wears like a champ! It stays put all day, giving me almost 10 hours of coverage without fading or caking up. I don’t set with powder and it still wears very well for me. Here are the swatches of all the shades from Fenty Beauty Facebook.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer
The new Fenty Hydrating Primer in Soft Silk is described as a lightweight makeup primer for normal to dry skin that instantly hydrates skin and keeps it comfortable all day while extending foundation wear. Just like the foundation, it’s also formulated with grape seed oil and sodium hyaluronate for a moisture boost.
I really like this primer! It has a very lightweight, silky-smooth texture that just melts into my skin. It’s nicely hydrating without a heavy feel and creates an evenly smooth canvas for makeup. I have been using it under the new foundation and the combination is perfect for a long-wearing finish that won’t flake off or get cakey.
The only downside is that this hydrating primer does not have a pore-blurring finish. It’s quite smoothing, moisturizing and helps my makeup last longer but definitely leaves a little something to be desired in the pore-diffusing department.
Bottom Line
Fenty Beauty Hydrating Foundation is proof you can have a full-coverage foundation that’s long-wearing and hydrating! It ticks all the right boxes in terms of texture, coverage and longevity for this dry skin girl.
Although hydrating, this foundation isn’t dewy, heavy or too moisturizing which makes it suitable not only for normal to dry skin but also for combination skin types. Not to mention, the shade range is truly inclusive with options for all skin tones, so you can easily find a perfect match.
Also, Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer is a great pick if you want to add an extra boost of hydration to your skin (without any dewiness or shine!) before applying any foundation.
