Finding the perfect mineral sunscreen isn’t the chore it used to be. What were once gloppy, greasy, heavy creams guaranteed to leave a chalky white cast are now becoming just as sophisticated as their chemical counterparts.
That said, I’m extremely picky when it comes to sunscreen. In my quest for the best mineral sunscreens for face, I’ve met a lot of duds. But the good news is I’ve also found a few gems that deliver gentle and effective broad-spectrum UVA + UVB protection protection while meeting my (high) expectations!
Today, I am talking about 4 of my favorite mineral sunscreens that check off all the right boxes in my SPF wish list. They’re all lightweight, luxurious and best of all, invisible!
So, keep reading to see the best mineral sunscreens for face that have an elegant feel and finish, wear well under makeup and won’t leave a white cast at all.
First Aid Beauty Weightless Liquid Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 ($36)
This is a luxuriously lightweight mineral sunscreen with a sheer tint that blends seamlessly into all skin tones with a satin finish. The formula uses non-nano Zinc Oxide in an impressive 22% concentration. It has a silky liquid texture with a barely-there feel and delivers a soft blur effect for the perfect “no-makeup makeup” look while providing reliable SPF protection — without any white cast!
The sheer tint doesn’t provide any coverage but enhances your skin tone and blurs imperfections. It also layers well and doesn’t pill or ball up under makeup. Great for all skin types, this sunscreen is non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores), cruelty-free and reef safe. I also listed this in my 2023 skincare favorites and it’s one of my all time favorite sunscreens, so yes, this product is pretty amazing. Here’s my Instagram reel showcasing this FAB sunscreen…

Naked Sundays CabanaGlow SPF50 Mineral Glow Serum Drops Sheer Tint ($35)
Infused with antioxidant-rich pink algae and Hyaluronic Acid, this mineral sunscreen with 14.9% zinc oxide + 3.3% titanium dioxide has a fragrance-free formula that’s suitable for all skin types. It has a very lightweight texture with a sheer tint that blends in seamlessly on my light-medium skin tone without a trace. I can’t say how it’ll wear on dark skin tones though.
The formula is hydrating but not heavy or sticky and has a slightly dewy finish, leaving skin with a natural radiance. Not to mention, this sunscreen also doubles as a primer and layers beautifully under makeup.
Hero Superbeam Sunscreen SPF 30 ($20)
Formulated with 17.53% zinc oxide, this tinted mineral sunscreen has a silky-smooth texture with a sheer peachy tint (warm undertones) that blends in easily with a soft glowy finish. Best for normal to dry skin, the formula is lightweight but moisturizing and adds a healthy, hydrated glow without being too dewy or greasy/sticky. It leaves my skin glowy, but not greasy! This is the perfect dewy sunscreen for dry skin. And it also wears well under makeup.
This sunscreen also contains Niacinamide, sea buckthorn oil, kakadu plum extract and vitamin E to provide protection against free radicals. Also, it’s non-comedogenic and won’t clog pores. HH science Clinical Strength + Clean Brightening Serum + SPF 50 Drops ($65)
This is a lightweight SPF 50 mineral sunscreen formulated with finely milled Zinc Oxide 25% (the highest percentage!) to provide superior broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. It also contains clinical strength ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) to reduce dullness, discoloration and brighten skin. Not to mention, the formula also boasts of a powerful blend of antioxidants including Green Tea polyphenols, Resveratrol, Ubiquinone and Gooseberry fruit extract that work together to nourish and soothe skin while fending off free radicals.
This sunscreen has a lightweight and hydrating, serum formula that’s easy to spread out and absorbs pretty quickly without a sticky or greasy feel. It doesn’t dry down completely matte, but nor does it feel oily on the skin. It has a semi-matte finish that looks natural on the skin, making it suitable for all skin types (except those with very oily skin). What makes it truly amazing is that despite a very high concentration of zinc oxide, this sunscreen doesn’t leave any white cast and blends in with a completely clear finish.
There’s only one downside to this sunscreen — it’s pretty expensive at $65. That said, when you consider that it replaces your vitamin C serum too, the value is definitely there!
So, these are some of the best mineral sunscreens for face that you’ll want to wear every single day (which is exactly how often we should all be wearing sunscreen!) Which of these will you be trying first?
