With so many brands releasing BB creams this year, the BB cream trend finally seems to have made its way into the US market from Asia. Basically, BB cream is supposed to be your all-in-one product replacing your moisturizer, primer, concealer, treatment and foundation. (If you are also a BB cream newbie like me, I suggest you check out this helpful post from the lovely Muse) Needless to say, I was fascinated and picked up Boscia BB cream from Sephora to find out what the rage is all about!
B.B. Cream SPF 27 PA++ – Product Description
This oil-free, skin-perfecting “Blemish Balm” is the ultimate multi-functional treatment. The gentle botanical formula creates a lustrous, flawless finish as it hydrates, firms, and soothes the skin. It helps to diminish the appearance of pores, fine lines, and uneven skintone while providing long-wearing, natural coverage that conceals imperfections. Comes in a self-adjusting, universal shade that warms to complement most skin tones for sheer, flawless coverage.
Designed to repair damage and protect skin from future damage without irritation, it’s packed with antioxidants and physical sunscreens that provide broad-spectrum sun protection rated to SPF 27 and PA++. The PA system is a grade of UVA protection that provides superior defense against the rays that cause collagen damage and photo-aging of the skin.
Boscia BB cream has a rich creamy texture but it blends and absorbs easily without feeling greasy. I really don’t need a moisturizer (or sunscreen) with this cream as it offers instant hydration plus SPF 27…. score! It matches my light-medium skin tone well (I’m about NC 25 in MAC) and gives me light to medium coverage with a dewy finish. It evens out my imperfections very nicely making my skin look fresh and healthy and also does a good job of softening the appearance of pores. It also brightens up my undereye area a bit but doesn’t completely cover up some light acne scars that I have on my cheeks. The formula is impressively long-wearing and stays put for at least 8-9 hours. You can see what this looks like on my skin here.
I noticed a bit of shine on my T-zone after a couple of hours (only on days when it was really hot) but not so much that I’d need to pull out any blotting papers. Also, the formula has tiny silvery sparkles but thankfully they are not noticeable on face (unless you look very closely) and doesn’t look tacky. Regarding the universal shade thing, I am just not sure how well it can adjust on considerably darker skin tones than mine without a chalky finish.
In conclusion, I would say Boscia BB cream SPF 27 is a fantastic multi-tasking product! It perfects my skintone well with a natural, glowy finish that is also long-lasting. I feel like the lightweight formula lets my skin “breathe” and is also moisturizing enough to keep my dry skin hydrated (with mineral SPF protection). Since it is oil-free, I think it should work well for most skin types except for those with very oily skin. However, if you desire full coverage then this is not for you and also those with deeper skintones may not find the self-adjusting, single shade very suitable for them.
Priced at $38 for a 1.75 oz tube, it is a little pricey but definitely well worth a try if you want a one-step skin-perfecting product for your morning routine!

It sounds amazing! 🙂 I don’t think I’d have shine issues as I have dry skin.

Vintage Makeup – I have dry skin too and the shine was an issue only on really hot n humid days.
