As the name suggests, Cover your gray is a Color Stick for instant touch-ups on roots and gray hair. I have been using Avon advanced techniques grey root touch up but a few weeks ago, I found this little cover-up color stick on Amazon.com. I am giving up on the Avon touch up thing because it has a strong smell and the color does not have good staying power. So, is the Cover your gray stick a good replacement?
Yes! The application is easy and hassle free with a lipstick-type applicator that you apply directly to gray areas. Because of the wax-based formula, it is a little sticky at the spots where applied but after brushing it through, I do not find my hair looking greasy. The color does rub off on your hands a bit if you happen to touch your hair but lasts until you wash it out. The formula doesn’t mat or clump. I got the color Midnight brown for my dark brown hair and it’s a decent match! (They offer 8 shades ranging from black to light brown).
It’s very convenient to carry around in your purse or travel bag for on-the-go touchups. The price is very reasonable for the amount of product you get. I got mine for $4.50 + $1.99 shipping and this little stick is going to last me a few months at least. Overall, I think it’s a nice and convenient option to go longer between hair colorings and keep your gray covered. Also available at Ulta stores.
