I am not really a flat iron fanatic but love to straighten my thick, wavy (and poofy too) tresses at least once in a week or two for a smooth, sleek style (that I wish I had naturally). As much as I like to do it, flat iron can wreak havoc on my very dry, frizzy strands if I don’t use a heavy-duty thermal protectant product. So, I had been looking for a good heat protectant but noticed that majority of the formulas, both drugstore and high-end, list alcohol as one of the top ingredients (gasp!). No, thank you…. I would rather not straighten my hair. But finally my quest has led me to discover a new product that not only shields my hair from excessive heat (sans alcohol) but also makes them silky-smooth….yayy!!
Enter f450 One Pass Hot Iron Activated Smoothing Cream by ThermaFuse – A temporary smoothing/straightening product (Formaldehyde-free) developed for use with extreme heat flat irons and appliances..to 450°F
Product description:
All it takes is one pass to transform wavy or curly hair into smooth and sleek fashion. Fortified with the conditioning of HeatSmart Complex and the heat protection of our new Cuticle Fusion Complex , one pass safely smoothes and temporarily straightens hair without harsh and potentially harmful chemicals. Speed-up styling time and reduce mechanical friction and cuticle abrasion from irons and brushes. one pass has a moisture barrier which resists environmental dampness that could cause locks to revert and become unruly.
As the name indicates, f40 hot iron activated smoothing cream has a creamy consistency that’s easy to work evenly through hair. It smells really nice with a sweet vanilla-ish scent that’s not too strong. The product is formulated to be used on dry hair just before heat styling. I start out with a small amount of the product by smoothing it over my strands, one section at a time and then apply it all over the length of my hair. After I use a flat iron, my strands look and feel salon smooth and moisturized without any signs of greasiness.
While the smoothing cream doesn’t create a smooth surface in just one pass of the flat iron, each section is perfectly smooth in two or three passes max. The smoothing cream does not weigh down my thick, dry hair but if you have fine hair that also tends to be oily, the creamy texture might be a little too heavy for your strands.
I am truly loving this heat-protecting and smoothing cream as it infuses hair with rich moisture and protein conditioning, combating the brittleness caused by extreme heat. This “no commitment” hair styling product is just perfect for me to control those hair behavioral problems on a temporary basis whenever I want.
Priced at about $20 for a 3oz bottle, it is a little spendy but totally worth it for dry, fuzzy hair to restore moisture & shine and get smooth results with solid thermal protection.
f450° one pass Hot Iron Activated smoothing crème is available at sleekhair.com and Amazon.com.

Ooh this looks interesting. Unless you flat iron daily the 3oz will probably last a good amount of time and I’ll use Amazon certificates from Swagbucks to lessen the cost 🙂 I like the ingredients list better than most of the heat protectors available. Think I’m going to try this!

Mina – Glad you liked the post! They also have a 10oz bottle for about $30 which makes a better purchase for frequent flat iron users.
