As I have mentioned before in my haircare reviews, I have thick, wavy, mid-length hair that’s also very frizz-prone. A few years ago, I used to have very long hair (reaching my hips) but I finally decided to cut them off because it wasn’t a lot of fun to manage (and style) super long, thick, frizzy and dry/coarse hair with lots of split ends…..you get the idea. But the story of my hair woes did not end with that major haircut. Then I discovered the awesome WEN cleansing conditioner about 2 years ago and it surely has made a significant improvement in the texture and manageability of my hair. Still, without a flat iron, my tresses are usually a big, frizzy mess that need a lot of TLC to stay well-behaved.
Back in April, I got my hair chemically straightened (Japanese hair straightening) so it has been a smooth ride since then. The treatment is supposed to last about 6 – 9 months with proper care so I have been looking after my hair well to keep them straight and silky-smooth as long as possible.
While there are many hair products for my hair wigs that I have discovered, love, and often use, these are the products that are in my current rotation:
Shampoo & conditioner : WEN Fig cleansing conditioner/ Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo & Conditioner – My hair needs a lot of moisture and I alternate between these two sulfate-free, hydrating cleansers to keep my tresses healthy and nourished.
Dry Shampoo: Monimay Hair Shadz Brush-on Dry Shampoo – It’s a natural, colored powder formula that not only refreshes hair between washings but also covers gray roots.
Deep conditioner : For deep conditioning once a week (it’s actually more of once in two weeks), I give my hair and scalp a massage with olive oil, leave it in for an hour or two and then shampoo.
Hair serum/Anti-frizz : Brazilian Blowout Açai Smoothing Serum/ Surface Bassu Gold Hydrating Oil – Both are excellent leave-in treatments but I have been using the Brazilian blowout serum more at this time of the year.
Hair tools: Revlon Ionic styling hairdryer and my recent purchase, Sedu Pro Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron (1 1/2″)
Heat protection: f450° One Pass Hot Iron Activated Smoothing Crème – Of all the heat styling protectants I’ve tried, this is the only one without any harsh chemicals. It’s alcohol-free, moisturizing formula is great for dry and coarse hair….smells yummy too!
So, that’s how I take care of my crowning glory! How about you? What’s your haircare routine like? I would love to hear about your favorites!

Hi Harshleen,
It is good to know your hair routine, because I love your new straight hair, it suits you very much and you are looking even more lovely than ever. As I also have dry frizzy hair, it requires lot of moisture to manage, so I might try the shampoo & conditioner combo from your routine. 🙂 Thanks for sharing it with your readers.
