Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray is one of those products that had been on my ‘wanna try it’ list for a while now. I’ve heard great things about it so I was happy to get a chance to try it out for review.
Skindinavia Makeup Finishing sprays are designed to prevent your makeup from smudging or fading and stay put all day. They promise to extend makeup wear for 16 hours, sealing your foundation, blush, eyeshadow and bronzer, allowing fewer touchups and a look that lasts. This spray was first used on movie sets to hold makeup under hot lights minimizing the need for touch ups and control excess shine. It’s still used in Hollywood, Broadway stages and has been used by both Lady Gaga and Britney Spears during their tours.
There are a few different types to choose from including the Original, No More Shine (for oily and combination skin types) and Bridal (great for extensive photography or evening looks). The one I tried is the Original Makeup Finishing Spray.
Product description
The Original Makeup Finishing Spray sets and holds makeup in place. Keeps color vibrant and prevents makeup from fading for up to 16 hours. Recommended for normal to combination skin types.
Features And Benefits:
Fewer touchups throughout the day.
Stops makeup meltdown.
Holds eye shadow, foundation, blush and concealer perfectly.
For best results : Apply your makeup and use the spray just before mascara. Shake well. Spray mist 2-4 times in an ‘X’ and ‘T’ formation, 8-10 inches from the face. Will not stain clothing.
This spray really does work. I haven’t tested it out for 16hrs but it kept my makeup in place very well for about 10-11 hours. What impressed me the most is that it also makes my blush stay put much longer than usual. The spray doesn’t have a strong fragrance or alcohol scent and dries quickly to a non-sticky, smooth finish. I like that it also controls the shine nicely (I don’t get really shiny but do need a quick touch-up after a few hours, especially in summers).
The only negative aspect of the spray is that the formula has alcohol in it (and I am ok with that skincare-wise as I am going to use the product only occasionally) however, if I am not careful enough, it stings my eyes as I open them after spraying. Although the product label says it is ‘eye tested’, I am just not comfortable spraying it close to my eyes.
Overall, I would say that Skindanivia Original Makeup Finishing Spray is a great product to set and prolong your makeup wear. It maintains color, helps makeup resist heat & humidity and controls shine too. The product is free of oil and parabens.
Available at Skindinavia.com and also Dermstore.com – $19 for 2 oz; $29 for 4 oz; $39 for 8 oz.
