As much as I love matte liquid lipsticks because of their major pigment payoff and staying power, I am not a fan of the dryness that comes along with most liquid lip colors. Not to mention, some of the liquid lipsticks can be crazy pricey!
So, as a liquid lipstick aficionado, I am always on the hunt for an affordable option that offers stay-put intense color and a velvety matte look without being uncomfortably drying. And I am happy to report that I have found a new drugstore matte liquid lipstick that fits the bill perfectly!
Enter the NEW Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour!
Description:
Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour delivers high intensity color with a velvety matte finish from the very first stroke!
- Bold color with just one stroke
- Impressive staying power – kiss-proof, touch-proof, water-proof wear
- Velvety matte finish
- Unbelievably comfortable, lightweight texture
Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour is available in 14 different shades, including neutrals, brights, and edgy hues like black, blue, and gray. There’s definitely something for everyone in the color range.
I loved the feel of this matte liquid lipstick formula right from the start! It has a lightweight, mousse-like texture that’s easy to work with and applies smoothly. The pigmentation is fantastic and the color is also easy to layer on if you want a more intense look.
The formula takes about a minute to dry down completely and I like that because it gives me a bit of time to perfect my application before the color sets completely. Once set, this liquid lipstick is indeed transfer-proof, water-proof and stays on all day. Talk about a product that does what it says!
Where this liquid lipstick truly excels is in its ability to live up to its claim of being long-lasting, while still keeping a smooth, velvety feeling that doesn’t dry out my lips. It wears comfortably with a lightweight feel, without leaving my lips starved for moisture. This makes it a real find because dryness is the biggest strike against most matte liquid lipsticks!
Unless you have very dry or chapped lips, this liquid lipstick is quite forgiving and you won’t need to prep your lips beforehand. The average wear time for the shades I tried is about 7 hours…no frequent touch-ups required! And it’s even longer if I stay away from greasy food.
I am loving all the 6 shades I have but my favorites are Pink Blink (terracotta pink), Fire Starter (orange-ish red), Rose & Shine (rose pink) and Be My Baby (caramel beige). With the exception of Plum This Show (raspberry plum), it’s easy to get a smooth and even coverage for all the shades. Plum This Show needs a little extra work to even out but it’s still a keeper for a bold, matte lip look!

Bottom Line
Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour offers everything you’d want from a liquid lipstick – easy to apply, bright & bold matte color and long-lasting yet comfortable wear that’s not drying. The color rich transfer-proof formula goes on creamy, giving you enough time to perfect your paint job before it dries matte and then stays put. And the best part is that it’s under $5!
This is definitely one of the best drugstore matte liquid lipsticks! The quality here rivals many high-end liquid lipsticks, but at a fraction of the price.
Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour is available at Target and Walmart for $5 each.

I ordered mine from Target. Very drying and transfers onto cups. I like the color (Be My Baby) but am not impressed with the lasting power. I find that I am searching for lip balm all day.
Harshleen says
Really? I didn’t find them drying or transferring. In fact, these are one of the few drugstore matte lippies that I can wear without lip balm. Did you try any other shades too?
