Talking about my top beauty favorites of 2018 today! These are the new holy-grail products I found last year.
All of these newly discovered loves were released in 2018 except the Kerastase serum that has been around for a while (but now has a slightly reformulated new formula!)
Best Beauty Products 2018
1. Peter Thomas Roth Max Mineral Naked Broad Spectrum SPF 45 ($38)
You know that feeling when you try a new beauty product and LOVE it so much that you just have to tell everyone you know? That’s how I feel about this tinted moisturizer with SPF! It’s undoubtedly my #1 favorite find from last year!
It’s super lightweight and offers sheer coverage with a slightly dewy finish. It evens out my skin tone and blurs minor imperfections which makes it perfect for everyday. It also layers beautifully under makeup. Plus, its high SPF makes it a serious skin protector!
Not to mention, this multitasker also contains antioxidants vitamin A, C, and E that protect skin against free radicals. Powerful sun protection with perks…YES please!
2. NYX Hydra Touch Oil Primer ($9)
This oil primer by NYX is basically a lightweight face oil that doubles as primer to prep skin for makeup. I just use a drop or two. It goes on more like a dry oil (no greasiness) and provides a super smooth, airbrushed-like base for my foundation.
Makeup applies like a dream over it, and the glowing, radiant finish is basically perfection. NYX Hydra Touch Oil Primer is truly a dry skin savior!
3. Flower Beauty Light Illusion Foundation ($12.80)
This is a drugstore foundation well done! I love everything about it from the beautiful coverage to dewy fresh finish – exactly what my dull, dry skin needs year-round. If you also have uneven skin tone like me (acne scars, sun damage), you’re sure to fall in love with the lightweight and buildable medium to full coverage this Flower Beauty foundation provides.
4. Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette ($49)
This was my most reached-for eyeshadow palette in 2018 and I’m toting along with us straight to 2019. With a great mix of neutrals and rich jewel tones, this palette has a beautiful range of shades packed with pigment.
From deep copper bronze and smokey browns to purples and cool blue-greens for a pretty pop of color, it has everything to create a variety of makeup looks. See the swatches here.
5. IT Cosmetics Oil-Free Matte CC Cream SPF 40 ($39)
There’s a LOT to love about IT Cosmetics Matte CC cream! It’s an oil-free version of the brand’s best-selling original CC cream, but with a natural-looking matte finish. It offers solid medium to full coverage that conceals almost everything from my acne scars to dark spots, plus SPF to boot.
What I really like about this CC cream is its soft-matte finish that looks natural without a cakey, flat look that some full-coverage matte foundations tend to have. And it stays put all day long!
6. Kérastase Elixir Ultime Oil Serum ($43, Also at Sephora)
This hair serum is nothing short of awesome. I wish I had tried it sooner! I use it on towel-dried hair before blow drying and voila…super smooth, shiny hair that stays frizz-free all day!
This serum is better than anything I’ve used before for my thick, unruly hair and a little goes a long way so it’s totally worth the splurge. I can use this on wet or dry hair without worrying about my hair being weighed down. Not to mention, it smells ah-mazing!!
7. Paula’s Choice Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30 ($29)
If you are a fan of all-mineral based face sunscreens, you know it’s not easy to find a good one that isn’t greasy, chalky and doesn’t leave a telltale white cast. But this new one by Paula’s Choice ticks all the right boxes!
The Essential Glow Moisturizer combines broad-spectrum sun protection with licorice, kiwi, argan, niacinamide, vitamin c and other antioxidants that defend skin against pollution and the harmful effects of blue light exposure.
The lightweight cream hydrates really well without being heavy/greasy and true to its name, gives my skin a soft dewy glow. Not to mention, even with an all-mineral SPF (6% Zinc Oxide and 5 %Titanium Dioxide), it leaves absolutely no white cast.
And most importantly, it plays nicely with my acne-prone skin. I’ve been using it for more than a month now and no breakouts so far, it’s definitely a keeper!
